Christopher Kane Has Nuclear Ambitions

"I wanted something natural, but I'm so fed up with florals," Christopher Kane tells Style.com about his first-ever pre-collection. "And then I came across these images of nuclear test explosions from the '50s to the '70s on the internet. I like the crazy-bright chemical colors. The way they're sinister — but beautiful."

Kane's has been known to have a bit of fashion ADD, never really stringing consecutive collections together with any underlying current, except for his ability to turn out individually desirable party dresses and quirky separates. That's not to say his appeal is without validation, though.

Graphic prints the designer found via the UK Ministry of Defence's free public-access website based loosely skimming frocks and cropped trousers, meaning that, once again, Kane fans will have to buy pieces from this collection if they ever hope to have a slice of his momentary fascination. We're especially interested in the "shrapnel" dress with grosgrain-ribbon add-ons. What about you?

I always like something about CK's collections, but it's kind of weird that he's always so concepty. The train of thought doesn't really carry through from one season to another, like at all.
