Barneys CEO Mark Lee with Anna Wintour
Over the weekend, Barneys CEO Mark Lee confirmed that they have decided to drop Prada from their stores. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, the former Gucci boss revealed that they decided to part ways with the brand due to a disagreement about Prada's lease.
But Lee isn't to blame for the change. The decision was made before he took his position last August, but he made it clear that he supports the decision. As the Cut point out, the move is quite high on the drama scales, especially considering the important role Barneys had in introducing the Italian brand to America.
Prada isn't alone in having issues with big department stores. Last August, Dolce & Gabbana hit the headlines after the brand was infamously dropped from Selfridges London over a disagreement about a change in the brand's position on the shop floor.
