Betsey Johnson - she of the catwalk cartwheels - is one designer who's always up for some fun. Needless to say, her New York birthday extravaganza this week was an all-out affair, from the designer's bicycle entrance in a pink frilly frock to her tempting, rose-topped cupcakes to, well, the Chambord-sponsored open bar. We were amused by the Betsey lookalikes encamped at the designer's Soho boutique, where the designer greeted well-wishers and posed for pictures in the corner of the room. Meanwhile, the design team rode up in a pink stretch Mini Cooper.

'Ain't It Great to Be 68!?' read the designer's fuschia birthday invites before the big day...and we have to say, the birthday soiree lived up to the hype. Next up? Fashion week. We're sure Ms Johnson has saved some greatness for the catwalk.
