Yesterday marked an eventful moment in fashion history, as the appointment-only viewings of the last collection by British fashion icon Alexander McQueen began. His tragic and untimely death cast a shadow over the fashion world, and unsurprisingly the designer's last show, as exclusive as it was, has without a doubt been the most highly anticipated show of the season. Not only because of McQueen's true talent and forward-thinking designs, but also because of how this collection will go down in history, with McQueen as one of the true greats of fashion.
"A solemn parade of 15 showpieces in a gilded salon made for a moving viewing", WWD wrote, whilst The Moment reflected, "The final Mcqueen show was breathtakingly beautiful. Filled with angels, religious references, and gilded wings." It wasn't just the carefully selected audience that felt blessed to be a part of McQueen's final show, either. "Feeling so blessed and honored to be a part of the alexander mcqueen presentations today, celebration of a true genious, so beautiful so sad," Frida Gustavsson tweeted.
