Are we having a turn for the sporty this season? Despite mixed reviews of Alexander Wang's Friday Night Lights collection (hey, we liked it), it looks like Gucci's Frida Giannini is headed in the athletic direction too - although her spin is a little more glammed-up.
The Gucci Spring '10 show featured slashed-out body-con dresses (plenty of little white ones, as seen here on Natasha Poly) plus streamlined white trousers with slick mesh panels. The Lady GaGa factor emerged with blue leather hotpants, and because it was Gucci, there was gorgeous black evening dresses, this time with front cut-outs and a bit of glitz.
Each style carried a bit of a futuristic vibe, which isn't exactly where Giannini's been heading the past few seasons. The 'Hippy Hippy Shake' kind of Gucci girl could take comfort, though, in a small selection of little ikat-print dresses, which seemed slightly out-of-place, but appropriately free-spirited for the recent customer base. All in all, we're happy to see Giannini try something new. Wang can take care of the downtown girls, and she can get the uptown market on lock.

I love Natasha P's first dress!!!!!
