No Hope Of The Mulleavy Sisters Getting An Oscar

Despite creating 40 ballet costumes for 'Black Swan', Rodarte's Laura and Kate Mulleavy will not get the Oscar-nod that we were all expecting for their work on the film.

If there's anyone that going to get credit for the designs, it will be the film's costume designer Amy Westcott. The sisters failed to negotiate adding a main credit as part of their deal and were not members of the Costume Designers Guild at that time, which is a prerequisite of being eligible for nominations.

The Hollywood Reporter writer Merle Ginsberg points out that there's been “a long history of fashion designers creating costumes for stars above and beyond what a film’s costume designer does–and not getting the credit they crave.”
