Joining Karen Elson and (maybe) Baptiste Giabiconi, Irina Lazareanu is becoming a slash. The model is taking a turn at music, and she told WWD at the Anne Valérie Hash show at Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday that Sean Lennon is helping finish her debut album, "Some Place Along the Way." She's been working on an album since 2006 and originally planned for a 2007 release date, but her runway schedule put a stop to that. She did, however, preview her song "Strange Places" (listen above) in 2007, with Lennon accompanying her on guitar. And now, the duo are murmuring about a secret Paris Fashion Week gig.
Lazareanu is forgoing the catwalk this season, which gives her more time to work on her music and, apparently, to help design for the Japanese department store Seibu. The collection is based on her masculine-meets-feminine aesthetic, and Lazareanu will soon head to Japan to check out the line's progress. The model, who walked for Hash's January couture show, told WWD she doesn't mind the time off. "I would rather be on this side of the fence for a little while," she said. "I like it over here."
