Thinking back to his youth, Galliano describes himself as "fashion-obsessed yet starved of choice in clothes." He adds, "We used to take our vintage market finds and pull them apart and recombine them to create our own mixed-up signature looks." So, inspired by "memories of [my] twenty-year old self", the designer is set to launch his first Galliano menswear collection, to sit alongside the womenswear collection, also of a lower price.
Looking at the fashion youth of today - and the new 'It kids' - Galliano acknowledged that "It's not just the girls who want to party and be able to pepper their wardrobe with urban essentials, the boys want this option too". The collection is set to include the signature Galliano style, with quirky pieces in leather and denim, and all reflecting that want for high fashion clothing. "The desire, hunger and originality in dress is still there," he went on, "so I wanted to create a collection that could inspire as much as bridge that gap". The range will be presented on January the 18th at Milan Menswear Fashion Week, and will be shown shortly after in Paris, on the 22nd of January.
