Lauren Hutton is dead set on attending this year's supermodel-themed Met Ball with her date, Michael Kors. It's just, you know, a teenage surfer bashed into her knee with his board in Hawaii two weeks ago, she kinda got pulled out with the tide, and now she can't bend her knee more than 30 degrees.
According to the Intelligencer, Hutton had to scream for the teenager about five times before he helped her, as she couldn't stand or swim. Back at the beach, she says: "My leg went sideways. The only thing that's holding our foreleg bones attached to our thigh bones are these little ligaments around the knee. And once they go, the bones fall sideways inside the bag of skin. It was like one of those Halloween skeletons."
As a knee-surgery regular, I have just lost my tomato juice and my confidence to walk.
Hutton is now debating whether the five-and-a-half-hour flight from LA to New York is worth it - especially since she'll have to prop her leg up in the air in public - but she wants to go because she's "the granny" of the other girls who'll be there.
