Had Michael Jackson made it to London for his final 'This Is It' tour, his Swarovski-studded tour costumes likely would have made almost as much fuss as his dancing. Costume designers Michael Bush and Dennis Tompkins were working on a set of stunning outfits that accentuated all his best moves, and they've revealed details of the pop star's would-be wardrobe to People.
Bush and Tompkins recreated the singer's iconic style for his whole 26-song set, but Jackson apparently wanted to add something extra. His red-leather 'Thriller' jacket had fibre-optic lights sewn in to create a light show timed to the beat. Jackson's trademark crystal glove and socks were also set to make a return, enabling even the back of the crowd to see him dance.
'I Just Can't Stop Loving You' would have required a 'regimented, military' look, while a jewelled belt for Jackson's 27 3/4-inch waist was also fit to perfection. For Jackson's planned finale, 'Billie Jean', designers crafted a suit with 7.5 pounds of Swarovski crystals and 60 lights so Jackson's one last spin would leave crowds with something to remember.
