Francois Nars, the founder and creator of the eponymous beauty and cosmetic brand, has decided to create a book to celebrate the brand's 15th anniversary. The forward thinking make-up artist-come-photographer has enlisted the help of a few of his celebrity friends to pose in the 15 portraits in the book, named '15x15'. Naomi Campbell, Marc Jacobs, Daphne Guiness, Amber Valleta and Olivier Theyskens, amongst others, have all been photographed and made-up by Nars himself, to represent iconic images or people so that 'there is something different on every page'.
Following the success of 'X Ray', the 1,500 copies of 15x15 which will be priced at $80 each, will be sold from 8pm on the 12th November on 15x15project.com. Unlike most other coffee table books, the proceeds from each portrait sold will be donated to the celebrity's chosen pet charity. The project was inspired by images and iconic people from previous decades such as Richard Avedon's photograph of 60s supermodel China Machado, which Marc Jacobs' portrait emulates. Nars told WWD the reason behind the book saying, "When you do something for 15 years, you want to do something fun but still a nice piece of work. Plus, the Nars brand people wanted me to o something to remind people I'm still here."
