Christmas may be round the corner and though the festivities of the season are preoccupying the minds of most, we are a little more excited about the fact that the Oscars are only round the corner - cue fabulous and not-so-fabulous dresses and the general mania that sweeps Hollywood for that weekend. Outfits and hysteria aside, what's really got us excited at the moment is the fact that the Valentino film has been shortlisted for an Oscar.
The documentary, entitled Valentino: The Last Emperor and directed by Matt Tynauer, quietly fought off serious competition, including Vogue's- The September Issue, to make the Best Documentary Shortlist. The documentary, which goes behind the scenes and delves into the private life of Valentino and his partner of ..... years, Giancario Giammetti whilst also focusing on the duo's final two years at the helm of the eponymous luxury fashion house, is in competition with 15 other films in a bid for the award.
In celebration of the film, Valentino and Giammetti hosted a star-studded bash a few nights ago in Milan and of course, as would be expected, an army of A-listers including Naomi Campbell, Dean and Dan Caten, Brian Atwood, Margherita Missoni, Allegra Beck and Alessandro Dell'Acqua, were there to share the moment. Fingers crossed he wins! "What can I say? An Oscar would be an incredible crowning for an emperor," said the man himself.
