When Rihanna announced that she would launch reality design competition, Styled To Rock. I really wanted to like it. I mean, I'm as much of a fan of RiRi's as the next person but something about the concept felt a bit done. I mean, call me cynical but on the whole, design reality shows haven't done too well in the past let alone finding someone with genuine fashion potential and sadly, her show seems to be suffering a similar fate.
According to the Sun, the first episode received overnight viewing figures of only 95,000, which is considerably lower than the channel's usual audience of 153,000 for that time slot. Figures have since got worse with the second episode pulling in 79,000 viewers leading bosses at Sky Living to release this statement: 'We are very happy with the performance of Styled to Rock in Sky homes.' It continues: 'In these days of on-demand TV, the ratings for a show's premiere are far less important than once was the case. Nearly half a million customers have already enjoyed the first episode, which includes people watching through either Sky+, our Sky Anytime service or repeats.'
