Last season marked quite a departure at Vera Wang. Where her older collections were the perfect combination of feminine utility wear, for S/S12 she channelled all things sheer and romantic. Despite the criticisms about the change, Wang shows no signs of budging. The sheer floaty dresses appeared again but this time came in black rather than the bright block colours that she showed in September. While are perfect for the red carpet - think Solange Knowles in that white and purple S/S12 one that she wore to Anna Wintour's Obama benefit - the everyday pieces are not necessarily the most practical pieces for woman on the go.

Wang was clearly aware of the concerns so introduced enough new pieces to subdue her critics. The show opened with some great nude looks such as a sleeveless coat with oversized lapels and a selection of great structured black looks like a high neck jacket and an over-the-knee length dress and low slung kick flare jeans with the same effect.
