See, the job market isn't so bad! At least not for Stephanie Winston-Wolkoff, who served as Vogue's special events director until June and formerly planned fashion's biggest party, the Met Costume Institute Gala. Winston-Wolkoff has just been named Lincoln Centre's fashion week director. Not a bad transition, right?
The job duties include internal and external consulting for Lincoln Centre (which will host its first fashion week in September 2010) and fashion-industry players, including the CFDA, IMG Fashion and top designers. Winston-Wolkoff's new boss will be Reynold Levy, president of Lincoln Centre.
"Welcoming Fashion Week to Lincoln Center is an important part of our commitment to making the campus more open and accessible, particularly since design has played an integral role in the artistic life of our 12 resident organizations for many decades," said Levy. "Stephanie's understanding of the specific needs of the fashion industry in tandem with her experience in organizing high profile, logistically complex events, will be invaluable as a resource in ensuring that Fashion Week's presence at Lincoln Centre will be very special - exciting, convenient and efficient."
Model of the moment Gemma Ward has been M.I.A. for the past few months. Predictably, it looks as though Ridley Scott’s ‘Gucci’ biopic, due for a 2010 start date, is not going to sit well with the family in question. Scott, the legendary English film director known for his stylish visuals, is currently in talks with Angelina Jolie for the femme fatale role of Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizio Gucci's ex-wife, who was convicted of plotting his 1995 murder and is now serving a 26-year sentence.
Having just hired Tom Ford to relaunch the Gucci brand, Maurizio Gucci, grandson of founder Guccio Gucci, was gunned down by a trio of killers, which included Reggiani’s fortune teller, in front of his Milan apartment. With so much drama surrounding the murder and decadence in the Gucci fashion dynasty, it is unsurprising to find the family concerned over how scandalous the film may be.
Maurizio’s cousin Patrizia Gucci has told the Italian newspapers she feels betrayed by Giannina Facio, Scott’s wife and one of the film’s producers. Patrizia Gucci has revealed that Giannina Facio spent time with the family in Florence and had told them the film would be more of a Gucci ‘hagiography’. “Scott had assured us that it would not be a scandalistic movie,” Patrizia Gucci told Corriere della Sera, who added that the Gucci family is “surprised and disconcerted.”
“This is not an authorised movie and we will try to block it if it is offensive. Enough mud. We have been through horrible things and paid plenty in person. I will write a book about the Guccis to say who they really are. And I will give Scott a copy, in hopes that his movie will never be released,” Patrizia added.

With only one month to go before her due date, it looks as though mum-to-be Gisele Bündchen is well on her way to getting a pilot's license to fly helicopters. “Gisele hasn't finished her license yet, but she did pass her written exam. Now, there's one more step along the way, the practical exam, which is coming up in another week,” said Keith Douglass, President of Shoreline Aviation, the company that has been providing flight training for the supermodel. According to Douglass, Gisele “has been doing an excellent job”. He added: “She's very dedicated. She flies at least three days a week. Flying a helicopter isn't easy – it's a handful, because you can't stop flying and just cruise, but she's doing great.”
However, Gisele, who is expecting her first baby with husband Tom Brady, is “almost to a point where she's too big to be flying. She needs to be able to move the rutter around and she's getting there.” But, luckily for the determined Brazilian cover girl, “if you are comfortable and the doctor says it's OK, you can fly until the end of the pregnancy,” said Dougless. “We have pilots that fly right up to the end. She doesn't go very high, maybe 500 feet or 1,000 feet, which is nothing. She’s always close and can get down quickly if she needs to. She's feeling great and looking great!”
