Well, we're full of Giles news today, aren't we? This time around, we'll ask you to mark your diaries because the British it-designer has scheduled four free catwalk shows for your viewing pleasure.
Giles' collection will be exhibited four times on July 17: at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Although tickets are free, booking is necessary. Registration opens July 8, so call 020 7942 2820 or visit the V&A fashion page for more information.
Our favourite Geldof sister has been a busy lady. It's not all drunken partying for the 18-year-old. After attending Vitamin Water's winnebago at Glastonbury this weekend, the model quickly returned to London to get back to work. Well, that's if you would actually call playing dress up with Katie Grand working? Pixie was being styled by Grand for Giles Deacon's pre-collection look book.
I have a feeling we will see a lot more of her come fashion week......
I did have my problems with fashion before, maybe. As a heterosexual man, I was always a bit embarrassed of being a fashion photographer and didn't have the confidence to describe myself that way. Now I do have the confidence. It's a weird thing to do, I know, but I just kind of got into it and I think I do it very well.
Marc Jacobs' campaign photographer tells the Independent about his former hang-ups
Ann-Sofie Back, the Swedish designer who gave everyone a fashionable scare with her horror flick-inspired fall collection, has plenty on her plate for now. The queen of knitwear is taking over as head designer of Cheap Monday, where she'll handle "everything that isn't jeans". That ranges from dresses to jackets to eyewear, and has her designing nonstop for summer.
Independently of her street cred, Back - was also at Acne before launching her own line - is someone we'd all want to hang out with. And we kind of love her for giving the most honest (and comical) answer we've gotten so far about when she's inspired to work.
The rumour mill had Marc Jacobs and fiance Lorenzo Martone set to marry this month, but now, it seems August is a more realistic target. Martone attributed the delay to Jacobs' busy work schedule, according to WWD, but said the ceremony is still planned for Provincetown, Massachusetts. Since Jacobs' business partner, Robert Duffy, has a home there, what better place?
Martone, who's now testing the waters as a photographer, showed off another famous couple at a party he hosted at New York's Standard Hotel on Sunday. He calls an intimate election-night shot of Barack and Michelle Obama, showing the two in a loving embrace, 'Election Love'. And we love that.
The first images of Kanye West's Louis Vuitton trainers have surfaced (via Racked and Jezebel), and we're curious what you think of the offerings. By the way, we're sure you already knew it, but the shoes were inspired by the film 'Dune'. Because what else could red on red mean?
Although the shoes are considered "spring/summer 2009", and their official release date was supposed to be later this month, it seems that later this year might be more likely. What's going on there, Kanye?
Last week, we brought you an image from Madonna's second Louis Vuitton ad campaign. Today, we bring three more Steven Meisel-shot images (via Fashionologie), and the Photoshopping didn't lessen over the weekend.
Two more shots of Madge with that eerie glow are after the jump. After reviewing, let us know what you think of the fall campaign.
Either I'm stuck in a Laura Ingalls Wilder dream, or this is the new Chanel ad that Karl Lagerfeld shot as his Vermont retreat. It seems to be the latter. Heidi Mount and Freja Beha Erichsen feature in the brand's fall '09 campaign, and there's one more image after the jump to check out.
Elsewhere, Lagerfeld has been busy promoting his role as an animated villain and helping Colette find new totes to sell. Uncle Karl walked the red carpet Sunday for the Paris premiere of 'Totally Spies', which sees him voice the character Fabu. And the "Karl Who?" bag he's been carrying has become such a cult hit that retailers are snapping it up. Not bad for a trendsetter, hmm?
It's not bad being the child of a Rolling Stone, eh? Lizzie Jagger, daughter of Mick Jagger has been walking the runway since age 13 and has bagged big deals with the likes of Marks & Spencer over the years. It was only a matter of time before fellow Rolling Stone child Jesse Wood followed suit and took advantage of the opportunities that come along with being the child of a rock icon.
Wood has been modelling for some time but has just landed a big contract with Calvin Klein. How big you ask? How about a seven-figure sum? Jesse won't be alone. His wife and two children will also appear in the advertisements.
"Jesse is absolutely thrilled," a friend of the model told The Telegraph. "The deal couldn't have come at a better time for him."
Recent reports claim that his father has made it clear that he will not be able to financially support his children since he has an expensive pending divorce to his second wife, Jo Wood, after he was caught having an affair with 20-year-old Russian waitress Ekaterina Ivanova.
