Thomas Maier Avoids The Obvious Route At Bottega Veneta

For Fall, Thomas Maier presented a refreshing take on the "power woman" that did not consist of the cliche '80s power shoulder, and thankfully, there was not an 'Iron Lady' look in sight. Instead Maier presented a woman that oozed confidence and power in a subtle, cool way. The collection opened with a leather pantsuit and went on to feature a double-breasted trouser suit and semi-draped dresses, where one in particular was styled with a cropped leather top layered over.

The collection ranged from tailoring, at one instance, to floor-length dresses in pinks and reds, which came subtly belted at the waist, at the other.

Marc Bouwer Snagged A Victoria's Secret Angel For His Fall Video

Candice Swanepoel, you are ahead of your time. Most notably so while wearing Marc Bouwer's AW10 collection in a futuristic video that David Bowie probably would like. Bouwer teamed up with the South African model, best known for her work as a Victoria's Secret Angel, for a short fashion film that has us yearning to be space-age wonder women for fall.

In the video, Swanepoel struts across an illuminated, digitally created catwalk as the galaxies rush by on either side of her. But we didn't have time to focus on our favourite constellations, as Bouwer's sharp lines and strong shoulders diverted our attention. We can see one of our favourites, VV Brown, wearing an LBD with Bouwer's attention-grabbing voluminous sleeves - but for now, we're content with seeing an Angel walk the collection through the distant skies.
