It was at a big party in Coco’s apartments in Paris. I was drunk and got lost in the building. I wandered into an attic room and Karl was there. I got really embarrassed and apologised, but he said, ‘No, come in.’ We had a chat – although I can’t remember what about, I was so drunk. I do remember asking him about some shoes he’d designed that had a green ring in the heel [from the Chanel a/w 2009 collection]. I asked how they worked. He drew a diagram explaining the physics of making the shoe. I’ve still got the drawing. A week later I was asked to do the campaign.

Despite the show taking place only yesterday I'm sure you've all heard about the huge lion that stood centre stage in the Grand Palais with a Chanel pearl under it's paw at the brand's couture show. Once the models began to sashay down the runway all became clear. The collection was fierce and bold as the centrepiece with it's elaborate embroidery and detailing.
This season Karl Lagerfeld opted for heavy weighty fabrics compared to the loose and airy styles that we saw for Spring couture. The collection manly came in plaids, tweeds and furs in burnt oranges, browns, deep reds and royals blues; but the designer did throw in a fair share of tulle adorned with pastel-coloured flower embroidery. Lace also featured on dresses sitting comfortable just above the knee.
Proportions came in different variations from over-the-knee styles on sequin dresses - and most notably on a beautiful red corseted dress that skimmed the calf - teamed with juxtaposing cropped jackets.

We've been talking to you about Garance Doré's debut into the world of advertising campaigns for a while now and the images have finally been released. The illustrator-come-street style blogger shot the fall 2010 campaign for Love Moschino with Anna Dello Russo's assistants Aurora and Vivianna in Milan. We first heard about the collaboration in May when Doré released the news on her blog.

Whilst many brands are closing their stand alone stores and are quickly losing their retail space in key department stores Giambattista Valli is growing from strength to strength.
Fashionsta reports that the brand experienced a 30% increase in sales for their Fall 2010 collection compared to the same collection the previous year. Above that the designer has secured the brand's position in 220 stores in 40 countries across the world. With all that in mind, it's hardly a surprise that the designer is set to expand the brand by opening it's first stand alone store later this autumn. Luckily for Parisians, the store is set to boast both accessories and ready to wear and will be set on rue Boissy d'Anglas.

Taking inspiration from the golden age of Hollywood - golden being the operative word, here - Giorgio Armani's latest designs for his Armani Privé collection revolved around the theme "A Play On Amber", with demure skirt suits, fluid straight legged trousers and exquisitely draped evening dresses in honey hues, soft greys and a range of neutrals.
The classic Armani combination of jacket and skirt featured brooch detailing, overcoats and gathers of smooth fabric for day, whilst evening gowns draped elegantly to the floor, sometimes from around the neck but predominantly strapless - although it was Karlie Kloss' shimmering sequinned finale dress that had our attention, that, and the newly-golden locks she and the rest of the blonde army of models had been sporting.

As if New York's Upper East Side wasn't a swish enough location for addictive TV series Gossip Girl to be filmed at, the American drama has upped its glam factor by choosing the romantic Parisian streets as backdrop to some special episodes. Arriving just in time for Couture Fashion Week, Blake Lively has already been spotted sitting front row, next to Anna Wintour, with rumours flying that the actress had been spotted modelling in the Paris Ritz Hotel, the very place the American editor-in-chief is staying.
The fleeting visit isn't about reality though - all eyes are on the characters' European wardrobes, with Serena flying the flag for St Tropez chic in floppy hats, wide legged pants and maxi dresses, whilst it's all about the prints for Blair Waldorf, be it cherry, floral, digital or all three. French actress Clemence Poesy - who makes a special cameo appearance - taught the girls a thing or two about Parisian dressing, however, when she stole the limelight by looking elegantly thrown together in a timeless beige trench with dishevelled hair.
