It looks like the launch of her underwear line at Marks & Spencer has prompted Collette Dinnigan to looking into other possibilities.
Today WWD revealed that the designer is launching a diffusion range called Collette by Collette Dinnigan to target the contemporary market. The 35 piece collection will come at prices ranging from $70-150 compared to the mainline's $465-1,250 and will be a lot more than a cheaper version of the mainline.“It’s very much a travel-leisure collection — much more relaxed and bohemian,” she told WWD. “I call it city-to-surf.”
The diffusion line is something that Dinnigan has been thinking about for some time. “I’ve always wanted to do a diffusion line,” she said. “This felt like the right moment to do it.”

We've all been waiting to see the fruits of Stefano Tonchi's ideas for the new look W and he definitely gives us a teaser of things to come with his first September issue. Already breaking records, Tonchi decided to opt for a three cover fold out which is allegedly the first time the magazine has ever done it. Also, rather than opting for a predictable A-lister to help sell the big September issue the magazine is fronted by fresh acting talent - Kate Dennings, Jessica Chastan, Yaya Da Costa, Mary Elizabeth, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Roberts and Zoe Kravitz - all shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
We thought we could sense a bit of irony in the cover's title, 'Great Expectations' which Tonchi has since confirmed was intentional. After all, it was his move to the magazine that began this summer's editorial reshuffling and has caused a great deal of anticipation about what he'll do in the new role. "I wanted to have some self-irony, because there are so many expectations about what this W will be, so it refers to these eight great new girls, but also to the pressure that we feel to satisfy the expectations that people have for the magazine,” he told The Cut.

Alexander Wang is a luck man. Okay so maybe that's a bit obvious considering that he's won countless awards and has been supported by every editor that counts but he's really luck nonetheless. When the designer chose to create a short film to show off his A/W 2010 collection, he hired top names to help with it's creation. As well as bringing creative director Fabien Baron on board, the designer also secured Abbey Lee Kershaw, stylist Karl Templer and photographer Craig McDean.
When asked about what prompted the idea Wang said, 'This is our way to sum up the season in a different light other than the show.' So despite the predominate use of pinstripes in the collection "Abbey’s not walking down Wall Street past buildings," he said. "But there’s wind and newspapers flying all over the place. It’s very moody and seductive — like looking at a perfume ad where you feel for the girl a lot more. Rather than saying, "Here’s the product," this is more about expressing ourselves.'
Make sure to watch the short film on Wang's webiste on Wednesday.
