It’s what everyone wants and I resist it because I want to be relevant in my own way.…I try to simplify my ideas and make them more simple but beyond a certain point, the simplification is not a positive thing.…So extracting the essence of a brand so that a brand is just a bow, the brand is just a heart, the brand is just black…everyone would want that. Even the customers would want that. The majority of people want to just sell and probably [Kawakubo] would have found this aspect negative. Because in the end she didn’t want to banalize what she does and almost become a caricature of herself.
Miuccia Prada told WWD
Manolo Blahnik aims to take over the accessories industry. He's already one of the leading footwear designers and now he's venturing into jewelry. He has designed to team up with TOUS to create a jewelry range featuring his Mary Jane Campari shoe as a charm.
Talking about his decision to collaborate with the brand he explained: "I love TOUS because I feel we have many things in common. We are family-runned businesses, we share Spanish roots and we are both keen on surprising and innovating."
The price hasn't been revealed bu the collection will be available in TOUS stores and Manolo Blahnik boutiques from March.
Yesterday H&M announced that they're launching a plus size collection but now for the bad news. According to reports, the collection is a one-off and will only be made available online for their European customers.
The collection - called H&M Inclusive - will cater for sizes 6-24 and will feature 20 pieces including "figure-flattering party dresses in 50's styles with large polka dots and rose patterns, as well as skirts, tops, cardigans and lingerie following the same theme."
I have never even considered it and I’ve explained why. It’s because I don’t like the idea of a bad copy of what one does for the main brand. If I had an ingenious idea to do fashion that costs less but that wasn’t a bad copy of something else, with completely different criteria and ways of doing things, I would do it. Also for myself, it would be an ingenious idea. For now, what I see more or less is the bad copy. Also with clothes that cost little, you need to ask why they cost so little. Because no one ever asks themselves that.
She told WWD
After the announcement, it was reported that that the magazine will stay the same but with a different eye, a sentiment that Alt confirmed in an interview with Hilary Alexander after the Chanel couture show this week. "French Vogue today is a successful magazine and it has a strong identity, so it will probably stay along the same lines' she explained. 'But, I mean, some things will change of course, because we have a different eye - It will be the same, but different!"
