Earlier on this year US Harper's Bazaar announced that there would be big changes at the magazine. Back in September they confirmed that the magazine is reducing their issues from 12 to 10 pear year after a significant drop in circulation numbers and ad pages and the changes don't stop there.
The magazine is also set to have a creative shake up as Glenda Bailey has hired Robin Derrick, who was the creative director of British Vogue until last June, to add his design input to the magazine along with their creative director Stephen Gan. “After 10 years, it’s time to refresh — Stephen and I are looking forward to evolving Bazaar’s design for the next decade, and we are excited to be collaborating with Robin,” she said.
She may have only released her first fragrance since 1983 back in June but there are a lot more beauty products on he horizon from Diane von Furstenberg. The designer, who is currently on tour promoting the fragrance, revealed that “they want me to do color, so this is just the beginning of me being back in the beauty business.”
The confirmation isn't a big surprise. In October the designer made it clear that she intends to expand and work on skincare and cosmetics lines too.‘I have always been interested in the intimacy of the relationship between beauty products and women,’ she told WWD. ‘Everything I do in life has to do with how much I am inspired by women, how much I respect women and how much I want every woman to feel strong, beautiful and confident.’
The launch of Tom Ford's new cosmetics line could never be a mediocre affair. Just in case you were not already convinced of the designer's pulling power, WWD confirmed that Bergdorf Goodman were inundated with sales of the new line at the opening. According to sources, the private launch, attended by Ford, resulted in $52,000 worth of cosmetics sales and one of the first items to sell out what the chocolate-brown nail lacquer, Bitter Bitch.
