If there's one new brand that stood out to me this year, it's Sarah Baadarani. Despite launching her brand only a year ago, her collections are executed with the confidence of someone who has been in the business for years.
At the heart of the brand is an on going experimentation with dichotomies like hard and soft, feminine and assertively powerful that translates itself of dresses with sharp clean lines softened with by a graphic print or a the inclusion of a sexy black underskirt on an otherwise feminine dress. Despite being only two seasons in, she's already becoming a favourite amongst editors and if 2011 is anything to go by, 2012 is going to a big year for Baadarani.
Last week Fendi hosted one of their several planned cocktail parties to celebrate the launch of their new eyewear collection and this time it was in London.
As you would expect, the collection is the perfect combination of classic luxury combined with modern features. For a more versatile day look, the new collection boasts the perfect pair brown style with the brand's double F logo along the temples in tortoiseshell that instantly gave it a more interesting twist; but if you want something a bit special, the collection also features a selection of big lensed styles with bright yellow, green or orange frames.
Angelina Jolie was the lady in black yesterday as she attended the New York premiere of 'In The Land of Blood and Honey'.The actress teamed this simple Joseph top with a matching silk black Ralph Lauren top and Cole Haan shoes.
Back in September we confirmed that Julia Restoin Roitfeld had a lingerie collection in the works and now more information on the line and images of the collection have surfaced. The collection sees Julia partner up with Kiki de Montparanasse to design the range - that will hit the brand's boutique and online on December 14 just in time for Christmas - and appear in the look book.
When asked about what prompted her to work on the range Roitfeld explained that it was borne out of her constantly seeing women wearing bras that failed to compliment their womanly figures. "A little while ago, the downtown trend in New York was to wear a 'bandeau' bra that you would see popping out of the side of your shirt. I guess it works for very, very small breasts, but for me, it would just be plain unflattering," she explained.
Halston haven't had the best of times recently, what with Sarah Jessica Parker and basically the whole team walking out earlier this yea, but it looks like the brand has been working on a comeback strategy after the attention caused by the controversy began to wane and according to sources, Nicole Richie is involved.
Reports yesterday allege that the designer is in talks to be the face of the brand. ‘They wanted someone with Nicole’s fashion credentials,’ a source told Showbiz Spy. ‘She is the perfect ambassador for Halston and even wore one of their gowns to the launch of her own fashion brand last week...She’d love to produce a capsule collection with them.’
