Life post-Vogue has been good for Carine Roitfeld - and good for us. Her attempt at diplomacy in interviews during her time at the French title has given way to refreshing frank anecdotes that would give Kaiser Karl a runner for his money and that's not an easy feat. Her recent comments in Eric Wilson's profile on her for The New York Times is a case in point. “If I look at the balance, maybe I lost some people I thought were my friends, but I made so many new friends," she explained when asked about the end of her friendship with Emmanuelle Alt. "I am very happy, in the end, because I am the winner.”
And it's true - Roitfeld has certainly come out on top since leaving the magazine. As well as her gig at Barneys and styling work for Chanel's campaigns, WWD confirm that she has guest edited VMan's spring issue, which is set to released on February 14.
Just when we thought we had seen all that the Spring/Summer 12 campaigns had to offer, today Miu Miu released these images starring Mia Wasikowska. While the casting might surprise you, we had a suspicion that the Australian actress could be working with the brand after she was seated front row at their Spring/Summer 11 show next to Hailee Steinfeld who, of course, became the face of the campaign for that season. While I like Miu Miu for always choosing interesting campaign subjects, this is one of my least favourite campaigns from them.
It was only last year that Felicity Jones really came on my radar. Over the course of 2011 she served up with a good selection of red carpet looks and yesterday was no different. This black corseted Dolce & Gabbana dress, that she wore to attend the Natonal Board of Review, looked glamorous but with an off-duty edge with the un-done hair and subtle black smokey eyes.
The S/S12 campaign season was a strong one for Gisele Bundchen and among the three campaigns that she bagged was this one for Salvatore Ferragamo. To co-inside with the big unveiling of the campaign, the brand have just released this behind-the-scenes video of the campaign shoot shot by Mikael Jansson in Jamaica. Although we see Budchen in action, she doesn't speak but her co-star Noah Mills, who you will recognise from 'Sex and The City', does as well as Ferragamo's creative director, Massimliano Giornetti.
Going from a successful reality star into a bona fide designer is hard transition for anyone and it's a challenge that Whitney Port has willingly embraced over the last few years. Despite showing her line, Whitney Eve, at New York Fashion Week in a group with several other designers back in 2009, the platforms she used to present her line were a lot more modest after the show was cancelled.
But fans of the line should not despair because Port has confirmed that she will return to the New York Fashion Week schedule next month and will show her Autumn/Winter 2012 collection at the Lincoln Centre with the help of Kelly Cutrone and People's Revolution. “My collection has grown so much over the past few years, and the next step for me as a designer was to put on my own runway show,” Port explained in a release. “I am so excited to show on schedule as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, and can’t wait to show my new Fall collection on the runway.”
Michelle Williams and Jessica Szohr turned up to the InStyle Golden Globes event in completely different outfits. Williams was perfection in this white Versace dress with satin ivory open toe heels; while Szohr followed her bohemian instinct with these wide leg trousers and relaxed feminine sheer button down.
Yesterday Taylor Tomasi Hill was applauded for the successful launch of her design collaboration with Lane Crawford in Hong Kong but in the space of a day, things have already turned sour.
Elle.com quickly noticed the uncanny similarity between the Moda Operandi artistic director's collection with two designer pieces. First up is the navy LBD which appears to be identical to a dress that Marc Jacobs showed back in 2008 and that's not all. The button down blue top with cut out shoulders that we all fell in love with is indistinguishable from a Comme des Garcon top that an editor was snapped wearing on a street style blog back in 2009.
