This week has been full of videos. Lanvin and Prada released their campaign videos this week and of course, Vogue Paris unveiled their new website with a video of Emmanuelle Alt performing to Wham's 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go'. Yesterday was Yves Saint Laurent's turn as the brand released a short clip to promote their new cruise collection.
The video, directed by Maciek Kobielski, is set an unknown but luxurious location which served as the perfect backdrop to the put the clothes in context. The fact that the collection is worn by the painstakingly beautiful Eniko Mihalik doesn't hurt either.
Elizabeth Olsen's arrival on the social scene last year was met with high expectations. Her older twin sisters, Mary-Kate and Ashley, are international style-icons loved for their penchant for avante garde in the perfect combination of high and low. And to a great extent, I think we were all guilty of expecting a similar aesthetic from her and being disappointed when she didn't comform to that 'look'.
While some of her outfits have been disappointing, her style developed a lot last year and in her latest editorial forVS magazine she really seems to be coming into her own. Moving away from the mediocre looks that she was styled in for Nylon, stylist Vibe Dabelsteen tapped into her penchant for feminine pieces but gave them an interesting twist in what is definitely my favourite cover shoot from her so far.
This year marks Shiseido's 140th anniversary and to mark the occasion, the brand have announced that Jennifer Connelly will serve as their first global spokesperson. While Connelly may not have been the first name that springs to mind when you think of the beauty giant, the actress told WWD that the decision to work together was a natural one. "I've had a long relationship with Shiseido - I worked with them in the Eighties on an ad campaign, and have been using their products ever since," she told WWD. "It's nice to reconnect with them after so many years."
Connelly will front their Future Solution LX premium skincare line and the campaign, which was shot last week, will be out this winter. "This year marks our 140th anniversary and it is our intention to look to the future and continue to inspire women around the globe," Hiroshi Maruyama, general manager of international marketing at Shisedio, explained. "We believe Jennifer, who is an accomplished actress and mother, will resonate with consumers around the world.
New York Fashion Week started with a bang last night as the annual amfAR New York gala event took place to kick off this season's festivities. The gala, which raises money for HIV/AIDS research, always see the best of fashion and entertainment come under one roof and as you would expect, the red carpet outfits were strong. Models were particularly on form last night. Joan Smalls looking incredible in a black Givenchy gown, Anja Rubik sported that much loved black and gold Gucci flapper dress and Liya Kebede broke the penchant for gowns by opting for this season's two tone trousers teamed with a white blouse.
2012 is supposed to be a big year for Lindsay Lohan. After a series of high profile run-ins with the law, the actress confirmed that the she will be focusing on her acting career this year as she prepares to play Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming movie titled 'Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story'.
With that in mind, LiLo was back on the red carpet circuit last night attending the amfAR New York gala to kick off New York Fashion Week. Yesterday the Daily Mail ran a story criticising the actress for not looking her best at the event and while the newspaper is known for unjistifiable criticising celebrities, we have to agree with them on this one. The 25 year-old's face looked much older than her years and not even her white Tom Ford outfit couldn't distract from that.
Next Models Paris want to know whether you're ready for fashion week? If you aren't already, you definitely will be after watching this short video that the agency released yesterday. The clip, directed by Sebastien Haddouck and Julien Gallico, sees their top girls like Abbey Lee Kershaw, Lou Doillon, Karlie Kloss and Aline Weber pose in front of a mirror and play around.
So it begs the question - are you ready for fashion month?
