It's been a long time coming but today Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt finally announced that they are getting married. When I first heard the news on Twitter earlier on today I didn't believe it - after all, I've lost count of all of the engagement rumours that have come and gone in the past - but the reports are true this time. Pitt's manager confirmed the news to The Associated Press today saying that while the wedding date has not been decided 'at this time' the engagement 'is a promise for the future.'
Naturally then, everyone's attention has turned to the ring. According to reports, it was designed by Robert Procop who teamed up with Jolie on her charity jewelry line in the past. The release from Procop's people said:
Following the first sighting of Angelina Jolie’s engagement ring at the private view of the new Chinese Art collection at the LA County Museum on 12 April 2012, Robert Procop confirmed that the ring was created by him, in collaboration with Brad Pitt, for Angelina Jolie.
Working closely with Brad Pitt to realise the star’s vision for the ring, Robert Procop was able to source a diamond of the finest quality which was then transformed using Pitt’s unique designs, cut with distinctive faceting to a shape and size that perfectly suits Angelina’s long, slender fingers. Throughout, Brad Pitt remained heavily involved, overseeing every aspect of the creative design process from the perfect cut of the diamond centerpiece – an elongated tablet shape – to the finishing touches such as the mounting of a galaxy of smaller stones which are graduated in size and faceted to match, adding a crowning lustre to the ring. The full creative journey – from conception to completion – took a year, with Brad Pitt waiting until the perfect moment to unveil this special jewel to Angelina Jolie.
Which designer do you want to see her get married in?
Stomach baring was something that I promised would be left in my early teens. I mean, that was the last stage where my abs where public friendly - sad but true. Overindulging in the finer things in life that come with coming of age made the idea of embracing the cropped top a thing of dreams but when I saw them all over the runway at the S/S12 shows, I wasn't as hostile to the idea as I thought I would be.
Rather than full stomach exposure (horror the thought), these new styles expose a glimpse of skin on the midriff. Let's call it the first baby step into the trend so if you're anything like me and you're not ready to go the whole way Prada-style, the more subtle Miu Miu styles are the perfect alternative. Elisa Sednaoui did it perfectly at the Chanel show last month sporting a cropped top with a high waisted skirt to show on a flash of skin, as did Alexa Chung at the Elle Style Awards last year in a blue YSL number.
So with both ends of the spectrum available for summer, will you dare to bare?
I’m like, that’s not sexy. Who wants to show their toe? Show a little ass; show some cleavage, but toe crack? I don’t understand that. I’ve had this conversation with shoe buyers...If you're wearing a pump, I like for it to come to the start of your toes, so you see foot and ankle but you don’t see toe crack.
Charlotte Free is doing really well. Despite only being discovered last year by IMG, she's already appeared on the cover of Wonderland magazine, fronted campaigns for Uniqlo and walked for Vivienne Westwood and Roksanda Ilincic and it doesn't end there. This weekForever 21 announced that they have booked the model as new face. So far she's appeared in their look book images and shot a short video for the American high-street retailer but I'm sure there's a lot more to come.
Yesterday Victoria's Secrets confirmed that their line-up of Angels is expanding and considering all of the pregnancies amongst their major stars like Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima, it comes at no surprise. The luck girl joining the impressive rooster is German model, Toni Garrn.
Even if you're not familiar with her name you have definitely seen her face. Her career started with a bang after bagging a worldwide exclusive with Calvin Klein and ever since she has walked for everyone from Prada to Jil Stuart and everyone in between as well as catalogues for retailers like H&M. Despite having such high profile fashion jobs in the past becoming a Victoria's Secret spokesperson deal is a big gig for any model.
