Is it working for you? And for bonus points, which look is your favourite or least favourite?

He's known for creating look books with no hair, make-up or lights on nothing more than a simple Polaroid camera. Can't guess who I'm talking about? Only Scott Sternberg of Boy by Band of Outsiders, of course.
In previous lookbooks, he's shot everyone from Sarah Silverman to, more recently, Kirsten Dunst. For Fall, Marisa Tomei is the woman of choice and was shot last Thursday at the Chateau Marmont and Bar Marmont, according to Fashionologie.

Sigh. "Yeah, it's just me, Sarah Silverman. Kinda bored, relaxing my spine. Telling jokes wears you out. But hey, aren't my clothes nice?"
Scott Sternberg, designer of the buzzy label up for the CFDA's Menswear Designer of the Year gong, has made an interesting, if comical, choice for his latest lookbook. Sternberg spoke to The Moment about one-liners, levels of appropriateness in Judaism and why he likes Sarah, even though she doesn't 'get' fashion.

There is no doubt that since MAC burst onto the makeup scene back in 1984, they have made a dramatically credible impact on the fashion industry. Not only do they provide high quality makeup to the very best artists for shows and shoots, their professional advice can be accessed through their stand alone stores, along with their expert products. As if offering us the best cosmetics, industry secrets and the artists to teach us how to emulate the latest beauty trends is not enough, MAC produce striking limited edition collections - with collaborators ranging from Zandra Rhodes, to Hello Kitty, to Dame Edna Everage - and even feed further back into the industry with their proactive involvement in both London and New York Fashion Weeks, to name a few. Could we ask much more of a makeup brand? We think not, as we take a look back at their involvement in the Spring Summer 2010 collections...

Who looked better at Milk Studios?

Erin Fetherston
Now that MAC cosmetics has dropped its sponsorship of New York Fashion Week, the makeup giant has new plans. Specifically, a set of shows that overlap with the regular fashion week but run in a separate venue, Milk Studios, under the event name "MAC at Milk". Erin Fetherston, Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler are among the dozen labels to have already signed on.
Milk Studios can hold 25 to 30 presentations, Mazdack Rassi, the site's founder, tells the NY Times. Designers will not be charged for space there, but the smallest of venues at Bryant Park, fashion week's main location, cost at least $25,000. And as John Demsey, the Estee Lauder group president who oversees MAC, adds: "Not everybody wants to be in a giant tent environment. And not everybody should be."
Even labels that typically separate their events from the pack at New York Fashion Week - think Band of Outsiders, Threeasfour and Preen - have agreed to take part in the new shows. "It’s not just an alternative show space we are creating, but truly a movement," Rassi says. OK, maybe a strong word choice, but we're betting plenty of people will be watching.

Guys all over the world were jealous when Gap launched their women's Design Edition White Shirts designed by the likes of Band of Outsiders. Don't worry guys, you can trust Topman to be on the case. Yersterday, the high street shop held a private viewing of cool, customised basic tops by designers Richard Chai, Phillip Lim, Christopher Shannon, Juun J, JW Anderson and Henry Holland.

Gwen Stefani will be returning to Milk Studios for her A/W10 L.A.M.B. show (she's also hosting a cocktail party), and she's not the only designer who's skipping the tents at Bryant Park for a new atmosphere. The MAC & Milk scheme was launched just last season to provide designers with a free show space, compared to the $25,000 minimum at New York Fashion Week's main location, and has since become the cool spot for labels both new and established.
This season, MAC & Milk will host 32 shows and presentations, compared to 25 last year, and has nabbed a few of the fashion-week calendar's big steals: McQ by Alexander McQueen, Richard Chai menswear and Patrik Ervell, for example. Jeremy Scott, who previously showed in Paris and London, is moving his show to the 15th Street location, and Jeremy Laing will also show there.
Besides having a strong roster, there are the perks to think about. Ryan Gosling's band, Dead Man's Bones, will perform at a party for newcomer LnA, and Surf Lodge chef Sam Talbot is debuting a new menu from Thursday to Sunday. And for those not lucky enough to see shows for Vena Cava, Band of Outsiders or Threeasfour next month, there's always a chance to the backstage products used at the shows on the MAC site from Feb. 2 to 22.
