Sandra Bullock; Jennifer Lopez
Despite having previously expressed their disdain for red carpet fashion this season, both Cathy Horyn, critic for The Times, and André Leon Talley of Vogue seemed to have actually liked some of the dresses on parade at the Oscars on Sunday. Normally a fashion hit, Sarah Jessica Parker came under some mixed criticisms for the Chanel Haute Couture she sported, or rather, as Horyn writes, "Ms. Parker is a beautiful woman, but the hairdo (and the Chanel column with breastplate) wore her on this occasion." Talley however loved the dress but agreed about the hair, which he described as "throwing her off carriage".
Stating that Sandra Bullock had "finally got the message!", Talley loved her Marchesa number, and even the hair and makeup too, however surprisingly his favourite of the night happened to be Jennifer Lopez's Armani Privé, which flaunted a billowing, oversized ruffle at the hip. Whilst we liked the Dries Van Noten number that Maggie Gyllenhall wore, ALT was less than impressed, however Elizabeth Banks, Mo'Nique and Charlize Theron all got the thumbs up. At least now the stars can rest from the scrutiny for a short while, until the next red carpet event, that is.
