Aerin Lauder's a busy woman. This week she's been in London promoting her new beauty line, which is set to drop this fall, but that's not the only thing she's working on. Lauder, who still serves as the style and image director at the family business, is working on establishing a full-on lifestyle brand so is already working on introducing other product categories like homeware and jewelry but first up is footwear.
The range, which is set to be launch for S/S12, will include 15 styles including flats, wedges and all heels ranges all coming in at accessible price points or around $179 to $400. '[The shoes] have an incredible level of detail, but at the same time, they are affordable,' she told the WWD. 'This is a huge part of the whole position of the brand,' and it makes sense. Despite the fact that spending on luxury brands is better than it was a few years ago, contemporary brands with their attainable price points are continuing to do well.
Last year Aerin Lauder departed from the family business where she served as creative director and senior vice-president. Shortly after she confirmed that she was preparing to launch her own lifestyle brand and WWD confirms that the launch is nearly here. From the end of the summer, the brands offerings will be making their way to stores:
Beauty will bow in late August and early September, with tabletop and gift offerings to follow for holiday. Personal accessories, fabrics and more home items will bow in spring 2013, as well as a book on living and style from Random House imprint Clarkson Potter, due the following fall.
The beauty collection, Aerin Essentials, is priced between $28 and $148 and includes everything from foundations and lip colours to make up bags and brushes. Along with the essentials, Lauder will also add in 'on-trend offerings four times a year'.
Walking in the show and appearing in campaigns is good but you know a model has made it when them bag that big beauty deal. Last month we confirmed that Natasha Poly finally bagged hers with L'Oreal and now Arizona Muse is getting in on the action too and has just been named the new spokesperson at Estée Lauder.
Since Anna Wintour tipped the 23 year-old as 'the breakout star at the Spring 2011 shows' in her February 2011 editor's letter, her career has gone from strength to strength. Along with the likes of Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls, Muse is dominating the modelling scene. 'Arizona is a true beauty and a great complement to our other spokespeople,” Aerin Lauder, style and image director for the Estée Lauder brand, told the WWD. “She is perfect for the brand — she is warm, elegant and personable. She can represent skin care, fragrance and makeup equally well. She is truly a modern Estée Lauder woman.”
Last night the Lincoln Centre in New York played home to the 2011 CFDA Awards. As we knew, Marc Jacobs picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award, Phoebe Philo was presented with the International Award and Lady Gaga collected the big 'Fashion Icon' gong at last night's ceremony.
Other big winners of the night include the Proenza Schouler duo who picked up the award for womenswear designer of the year. Accessories designer of the year went to Alexander Wang, Menswear Designer of the Year went to Michael Bastian and Eddie Borgo recieved the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design.
Last night saw Anna Wintour host the much anticipated Fashion's Night Out fashion show. The show - which is New York's largest ever public show - was designed to get the public excited for Fashion's Night Out which takes place in America on Friday.
Yesterday Estée Lauder confirmed that Liu Wen and Constance Jablonski are the latest addition to their line of brand ambassadors, which currently includes Hilary Rhoda, Carolyn Murphy, Elizabeth Hurley and Gwyneth Paltrow. Although they have not confirmed what each are set to promote, we are told that the campaign will debut in June.
This is the first time the pair have worked with the brand and Liu is officially the first Chinese model to be signed to the brand; while Constance is the first French model to land the campaign. “Estée Lauder has always searched for global beauties that define a generation," Aerin Lauder said. "Constance and Liu Wen are the beauties of our time. Both models have quickly captured the attention of the fashion and beauty world.”
