Last year Chanel put on a show with their Indian-inspired resort collection at their usual spot at the Grand Palais but today they took their latest collection to the Palace of Versailles. Chanel campaign girl Alice Dellal sat front row at the show along with the usual faces like Vanessa Paradis and Caroline Sieber. Tilda Swinton also attended along with Haider Ackermann.
Recently we reported that Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld were working on a new photobook for Chanel and now the brand have released this behind-the-scenes video from the shoot.
The video shows Karl Lagerfeld shoot everyone from Sarah Jessica Parker and Roitfeld herself to Alice Dellal and Georgia May Jagger for the book, titled 'The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's Classic Revisited.' The sentiment that seemed to flow throughout the quick interviews was the sense that the classic style transcends all generations and different types of women, something that we also picked up on in Dellal's Boy Chanel campaign.
Will you buy the book when it hits stores this winter?
Earlier this month when Karl Lagerfeld sent three year-old Hudson Kroeing on the runway in head-to-toe Chanel, it was clear that he was tapping into the next generation - the Chanel customer of the future. The same sentiment is apparent in the Boy Chanel campaign starring Alice Dellal.
The model wasn't the most obvious choice to front the campaign. After all, she's more known for hanging out in warehouse raves in the East End than she is for being associated with luxury brands but it's for that reason precisely that that I think the partnership happened. In the campaign she appears dressed in a way not too dissimilar from what you expect to see her in (ripped tights and all), and that will no doubt help the brand appear to a younger audience.
When Alice Dellal first came on the fashion scene she seemed to be everywhere but over the last year or so she disappeared. Don't worry though because the British model is back with a vengence this season because as well as bagging a Chanel campaign, she also stars in the latest Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign.
I've never been the biggest Dellal fan but the ads aren't too bad. What do you think?
Around the end of 2011 there was a real buzz around Lana Del Rey. The 'Video Games' singer has quickly gained a fashion following having been dressed by everyone from Antonio Berardi to Prabal Gurung and back in September, she performed at the Mulberry S/S12 presentation in New York.
If recent reports are anything to go by, indie singer will be working with fashion a lot more in the coming year. Next Model Management has reportedly signed the singer under the talent branch of the agency joining a rooster that already includes Alice Dellal and Alexa Chung. So if you're still not convinced that 2012 is her year, just watch this space.
The February issues are hitting newsstands so the final round of S/S12 ad campaigns are out. The latest to the addition are Toni Garn for Ports 1961, Alice Dellal for Ermanno Scervino, Karmen Pedaru and Abbey Lee Kershaw for Gucci, Frida Gustavsson and Lindsey Wixson for Mulberry and Gisele appears in her third campaign this season for Salvatore Ferragamo.
[My sister] Charlotte actually suggested I have it done. My brother and my Dad always used to shave their hair, and I remember thinking 'Why can't I do the same?' It's kind of ironic that it was my sister's idea, but I would give her total credit for it. The style's becoming more normal though - I see quite a few girls with similar hair now.
