Lauren Santo Domingo Is Pregnant

When Lauren Santo Domingo recently tweeted that "It's been exactly six months since I quit smoking! And by 'quit' I mean wanting to smoke every minute of everyday but not," many began to speculate that Vogue's contributing editor was pregnant. This week, Peter Davis announced that the rumours are true that she and her husband are expecting their first child.

The fashion industry seems to be experiencing a wave of pregnancies at the moment. Model-wise, Miranda Kerr, Doutzen Kroes and Claudia Schiffer are all expecting, and now the trend is hitting editors, too. Nina Garcia recently announced her pregnancy, and Anne Slowey recently gave birth to a baby girl.

Anne Slowey Gives Birth To A Baby Girl

Congrats to Anne Slowey! The Elle fashion-news director gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday afternoon and named her Afton Florabelle Lawson Fairey. This is Slowey's first child with husband Rodger Fairey, and we're sure the little one has big things ahead of her. After all, Slowey's baby shower involved beefy young men dressed in oversize pink diapers serving drinks to alcohol-swilling guests. Slowey warned Daily Front Row: "Big lips, long fingernails. Double trouble." Indeed.

Quote Me: Joe Zee Is Not On Team Tavi

You know, Tavi, like her or don't like her, she's 13 — whether she even really writes it herself, the idea that she has gotten all this attention, it's because of the Internet, not because of anything else. [At Elle] we're talking about people who have really done this their entire lives, who've really covered fashion, who really understand fashion...understand the history of fashion, can critique it from a point of view, [can] actually relay it back to something they've experienced and understand. I don't think Tavi even knows what happened five years ago. She has every right to [post] on the Internet, she has every right to have the following she has...everybody can follow her and find her creative or funny or quirky or inspiring, but the idea is there are people here [at Elle] who do know the history and I think that Anne [Slowey] stresses this. It's absolutely true: if you don't know what you're talking about, then do you really have the credibility to talk about it?"

Lanvin's Pre-Fall 2010 Show Must Go On

The saying 'the show must go on' is one that those in the entertainment industry live by. The same cannot always be said where the fashion industry is concerned. A case in point is Alber Elbaz of Lanvin, who recently unveiled his leopard-print-heavy pre-fall 2010 collection at Milk Studios in New York. Those who saw the show must have counted themselves as very lucky, as it would seem that Lanvin's show only just got off without a hitch. Thanks to Elle's Anne Slowey's tweet which read, "Poor Alber! He had to cry to get his pre-fall collection out of US customs!!!", we learnt of Alber and Lanvin's very lucky escape.

In spite of the customs debacle, the show still went ahead and even managed to attract Carey Mulligan, star of An Education, who is rumoured to have told Elbaz just how much she loved the dress. Having rocked up in a t-shirt teamed with a pair of jeans, we can only guess that she was referring to her Golden Globe gown? Perhaps that was what Elbaz was doing over the Christmas break: "It was pajamas, CNN and Style.com. It was great."

Tavi Writes For Harper's Bazaar. The Backlash Begins.

Tavi Gevinson, the 13-year-old fashion blogger/cultural phenomenon, has racked up an impressive list of accomplishments, despite being too young to drive or vote. She's covered various magazines, perched in front-row New York Fashion Week seats, earned the affection of Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy, and been named the guest of honour at Rei Kawakubo's holiday soiree. Now, the bookish teenager has penned a column for the January issue of Harper's Bazaar, which has earned her both praise for her unusually astute writing style and contempt for, well, being a youngster in a position of power.
