Picture Anna Wintour calmly saying, "Yes, we can - yes, I can" every morning as she looks at herself in the mirror. We like to think of her using Barack Obama's campaign catchphrase on a daily basis, now that she's nabbed a spot on a presidential committee.
Wintour and 26 other private citizens were instaled Monday on the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities, which focuses on "arts and humanities education, cultural diplomacy, economic revitalization through the arts and humanities and special events dedicated to recognizing excellence in these areas." Michelle Obama is honourary committee chair, and others including Sarah Jessica Parker, Kerry Washington, Forest Whitaker and Teresa Heinz Kerry also took committee spots.
And before you get your magazine-reading panties in a bunch, we'd like to point out that Wintour isn't leaving Vogue or moving to Washington. Although if she did, we can bet she'd have something to say about the "fashion" on Capitol Hill.

Washington's Mandarian Oriental Hotel hosted a special exhibition of Indonesian textiles collected by US President Barack Obama's mother, Anne Dunham, on Saturday. US and Indonesian dignitaries met in the capital to see a fashion show from designers like Priyo Oktaviano and Sebastian Gunawan, along with a concert and dance performance.
The event starts the last leg of Dunham's touring collection, 'A Lady Found a Culture in Its Cloth: Barack Obama's Mother and Indonesian Batiks', which Washington's Textile Museum will feature until Aug. 30. Dunham found batik prints so important because of the Indonesian tradition of women making them by hand, according to WWD.

The rumour mill had Marc Jacobs and fiance Lorenzo Martone set to marry this month, but now, it seems August is a more realistic target. Martone attributed the delay to Jacobs' busy work schedule, according to WWD, but said the ceremony is still planned for Provincetown, Massachusetts. Since Jacobs' business partner, Robert Duffy, has a home there, what better place?
Martone, who's now testing the waters as a photographer, showed off another famous couple at a party he hosted at New York's Standard Hotel on Sunday. He calls an intimate election-night shot of Barack and Michelle Obama, showing the two in a loving embrace, 'Election Love'. And we love that.

Tracey Ullman and Diane von Furstenburg
Comedienne Tracey Ullman hosted the 2009 CFDA Awards last night in New York, and despite a poorly received joke about Kiefer Sutherland headbutting Proenza Schouler designer Jack McCollough, the ceremony went off without a hitch.
Ullman, while honouring First Lady Michelle Obama with a special tribute, mentioned that President Barack Obama shouldn't have worn a cardigan to meet the Queen. Should she have worn that dress?
