Despite selling Harrods last year, Mohammed Al Fayed is not giving up on working in the retail industry. Yesterday it was confirmed that he has bought online discount retailer, Cocosa, from Bauer media.
The move is definitely a good one - and we're not just saying it because we're working with the retailer, we promise. Since it's launch back in 2008, the invitation-only site has secured a strong following of 500,000 members who all rely on the retailer for their fashion fixes at affordable prices. Although the move came as surprise, many are speculating that this is Al Fayed's first step in his plans to launch an online shopping empire.
This week, Hilary Alexander revealed that after less than two years, Dasha Zhukova has decided to leave her position as editor-in-chief at Pop. The news has since been confirmed by the magazine's spokesperson, who has revealed that Zhukova is leaving to focus on digital arts projects, and the magazine's editorial director Ashley Heath will stand in, in the meantime.
“My time at POP has been a transformative experience that I am extremely proud of,” Zhukova explained. “It has afforded me the chance to collaborate with some of the greatest creative minds in the world and I’m thankful to Ashley Heath and Bauer Media for the opportunity. I’m now excited to move on and build something from the ground up.”
The spokesperson also revealed that Zhukova's final issue had twice as many advertisers and three times the number of ad pages than during Katie Grand's time at the magazine.
For the past few days the gossip mill has been going overload with rumours that Russian socialite and designer, Dasha Zukova, will be appointed Editor in chie of POP now that uber stylist Katie Grand has started LOVE with Conde Nast.
It was made official an hour ago, as Bauer Media announced the appointment of Zhukova at a press conference in Milan
"Dasha will lead the new team at POP into a new era with an exciting vision that will inspire POP's audience of influential opinion formers and fashion leaders" said a representative at Bauer.
