Dior Reveal New Miss Dior Campaign Starring Mila Kunis

Aside from being a great actress and receiving critical acclaim for her performance in 'Black Swan' last year, things are looking good for Mila Kunis. Today Dior announced that the Ukraine-born star is the new face of their Miss Dior handbag range and these are the first few images of the Mikael Jansson shot ads.

"Mila Kunis is a very talented young actress; she embodies the true modern woman," Delphine Arnault, Dior's deputy general manager, explained when asked about casting the actress. "Her performance in Black Swan was remarkable. She is very gifted."

As if the 'Black Swan' drama wasn't bad enough, this week it took another turn for the worse. Last week we were all shocked and disappointed that the movie was not tipped for an Oscar nod for best costume despite the unnerving revelation that Kate and Laura Mulleavy would not get the full credit they deserved.

However, the movie's costume designer Amy Westcott has hit back at the criticism saying that the pair 'wouldn't have been cheated out of anything', The Cut reports.

Contrary To Expectation, 'Black Swan' Hasn't Received An Oscar Nomination For Best Costume

Last week we told you all about the Rodarte sisters not receiving full credit for the ballet designs they created for 'Black Swan'. However, the Oscar nominations were announced today and Black Swan wasn't included in the list of nominees for costume design after all. Instead the line-up includes 'True Grit', 'The Tempest', 'The King's Speech', 'I Am Love' and 'Alice in Wonderland'

The absence of the move from the list has left many in shock. The whole controversy regarded the sister's credit for the film was soley based on the expectation that it would receive an Oscar nod. After all, it's already receieved nomations for best costume from the Costume Designers' Giuld, Bafta and the Critics' Choice Awards.

Despite creating 40 ballet costumes for 'Black Swan', Rodarte's Laura and Kate Mulleavy will not get the Oscar-nod that we were all expecting for their work on the film.

Daphne Guinness Making Costumes For Her Film

If you got excited for Rodarte's pieces in 'Black Swan', then you'll no doubt be even more eager to learn what's next for Daphne Guinness: designing one-off pieces for a new film she's in. She told Grazia Daily: "I often if not always customise my pieces, and I have several different people working on my sketches. It just depends where on the planet I happen to be. I can work a sewing machine but I am not fast so that I leave to others. I started doing this from the age of 5 as since I am tiny nothing fit."

She continued: "I am making costumes for a film I am in the middle of shooting and I like to wear them in so I am comfortable. Anyway, a long and boring story, but I have probably made about 100 pieces. I have no products and they are figments of my imagination made real. Hope this helps - Daphne"

Sofia Coppola Will Shoot Natalie Portman's Miss Dior Cherie Ads

For those of you who loved Natalie Portman in 'Black Swan', take heart: the screen beauty will show up again in the new Miss Dior Cherie campaign, both on TV and in print. Tim Walker and Sofia Coppola are back to shoot the ads, which makes sense, as the duo helped launch the brand's Maryna Linchuk ads in 2008. Portman said of her costar: "I felt like a big old cougar. He's, like, 20."

Mulleavy Sisters First Foray Into Costume Design Is Black Swan

Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan will be opening the Venice Film Festival this year on the 1st of September. For it, Fashion's favourite sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy have designed 40 costumes for the entire ballet corps. The costumes will be featured in the "Swan Lake" part of the film, marking Rodarte's first foray into costume design.

In even more exciting news, last night the pair won the prestigious Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for fashion design. Presented by host Michelle Obama to the absent Mulleavy's, who had pulled out on attending the ceremony in the early morning, they had their spokesman tell press that they “had a family obligation to attend to in Los Angeles." Despite this, they have gathered much applause over the last year for all their oustanding work within the fashion world.
