Mention the words Spanx, shapewear or body control lingerie and gruesome images of Bridget Jones-esque underwear springs to mind. So it's been a long time coming for a designer to close in on the gap in the market, and although Roland Mouret created the "powermesh" dress (similar to Spanx, only at $475), Cynthia Rowley's new range of "bodywear" has been well received.
The new range - entitled SLIM by Cynthia Rowley - features art deco style panels in tones of nude, black, greyish mauve, light blue and hot pink, and although it won't be in stores until July, judging by the photos released they will be worth the wait. At prices between $118 and $226, the range is a bit of an indulgence but when something looks that adorable, and does wonders for our figures, we think it will be worth the investment. And we've got until July to save...
Lady Gaga has become famed for the array of outrageously quirky outfits, with which she continues to assault us. Lace, veiled dresses and Bridget Jones style knickers as outerwear are examples of looks she has donned in the past, so when we saw the images of her on the front cover of Elle magazine's January issue, we had to do a double take.
Gone are the flamboyant accessories and hairstyles and in its place, comes a groomed, sultry yet lady-like version of Ms Gaga. With Joe Zee styling the shoot, which sees her modelling a gold lame shift dress, a layered ruffle-neck and applique blouse teamed with her ubiquitous black knickers, and a leather cut-out long sleeved leotard, we knew she would look fabulous but we simply could not have fathomed just how polished and stunning Lady Gaga's new (poker face), would look.
Perhaps its her desire to go against her record bosses' styling ideas, that has driven her to go to such extremes with her attire in the past. She told Elle "My album covers are not sexual at all which was an issue for my record label. They didn't think the photos were commercial enough..." Well we think her record bosses will be ecstatic with her new look. We definitely hope she keeps up the good work!
