To say that the pressure is on for AnnaSophia Robb would be an understatement. Earlier on this year the 19 year-old was confirmed as the person to play the young Carrie Bradshaw in the 'The Carrie Diaries', the prequel to 'Sex And The City'. On the one hand the role is step in the right direction for Robb, which is apparent from all the brands and press currently courting her, but on the flip side expectations are high.
The trailer, which dropped last month, went along way in dispelling the critics but talking to Fashionista last week, she made it clear that she knows that she has big shoes to fill.
'I'm really excited. It's a bit nerve wracking but I think it will be a great show,' she said when asked about being involved with the show. 'We have a great cast and great writers and the fashion's going to be amazing but it will definitely have a different flavour than the original 'Sex and the City' because it's for a younger audience. But I really hope to make 'Carrie Diaries' the 'Sex and the City' of my generation.'
When it was announced that 'The Carrie Diaries', the prequel to 'Sex and the City' was definitely going to go ahead, I must admit that I was dubious. These things never seem to have quite the same effect as the original and often fail to live up to the hype and expectation that naturally comes along with such news. To say then that AnnaSophia Robb has a big task on her hands then as she gears up to play the young Carrie Bradshaw in the series, is quite the understatement.
But this image slightly subdues by fears. Whether it's the big hair or the sequins, the styling definitely seems to play true to the character which undoubtedly could have ruined it had they got it wrong. Even Sarah Jessica Parker has given the young actress the seal of approval. 'She sent me a letter! I wrote her one back, too,' Robb told Us Weekly. 'She was just very encouraging about it all. It was really cool!'
Over the past year much speculation has circulated about who will play Carrie Bradshaw in the much-anticipated CW series, 'The Carrie Diaries', which is the prequel to 'Sex and the City'. While the front runners for the role were Blake Lively and Elizabeth Olsen, today reports confirm that relatively unknown actress Anna Sophia Robb has booked the job.
Who will play the other characters is still unknown but what we do know is that 'Gossip Girl' producers Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz are on board along with the show's much-loved costume designer Eric Daman.
She’s not an anorexic bitch, she has tits and an ass. She knows where the hemline needs to hit, what colors she should wear and about draping ... She’s not getting out of cars without panties and she [sic] rather be home making apple pie, not partying in a limo. That’s why Anna [Wintour] likes her. She nailed it [the Vogue covers] and I love being a part of it without having to hold her hand ... [Sarah Jessica Parker] was so instrumental about clothing and the draping and body parts and Blake is the same exact way, but she’s not Carrie and she’s not SJP. Blake is in her 20s and has a hot body; she’s a teen icon of high fashion, and we haven’t really seen something like it. She’s like the Jackie O of her time.
We have to admit, when it was revealed back in March that Liberty of London would be teaming up with none other than king of the shoes Manolo Blahnik, we did squeal a little bit in excitement. Yesterday, the collection from the dream collaboration was revealed, and the English country lady inside of us was thoroughly delighted, with the perfect combination of Liberty's delicate, iconic prints and Manolo's elegant designs.
The shoes will be sold at the World of Manolo, which will be open at Liberty from the 10th of September, and will sell other items designed by the stiletto god, including scarves, candles, and excitingly some fabulous new Liberty prints. The central London boutique will also showcase the designer's AW10 collection - including a flat version of the blue, crystal adorned heels that Carrie wears in the first SATC film - in time for Fashion's Night Out. So, ladies, pencil the 10th of September into those diaries, and in the mean time we'll be decided which pair of sophisticated stilettos we'll be picking up.
