There’s way too much celebrity in fashion. I don’t really like working with celebrities, so I try to stay away from that whole machine. But of course I have met some incredibly nice and creative people who just happen to be a 'celebrity.'
"He sells a dream," says Anna Wintour, "You want to be that woman in that glorious house, on that glorious beach and in that incredible dress." Famous for his glossy photo shoots, Mario Testino is one of the world's best loved photographers. Shooting everyone from Kate Moss to Princess Diana, Testino's career spans nearly 30 years. Peruvian born, he now lives in London, where he continues to shoot for the Royal family. Versatility being one of his greatest talents, his celebrity portraits reveal a more personal, intimate side to his subjects, whilst his ad campaigns and editorials exude sex and glamour. With designers falling over themselves to secure him for their adverts, this man sells clothes! His fall 09 campaigns include; D&G, Michael Kors, Givenchy, Versace, and Burberry to name a few. Having captured images for every major fashion magazine, this month is no different, snapping Georgia May Jagger for British Vogue.
Alexander Wang is officially the man of the moment. But don't be misconceived. It's not all about parties and celebrities for the Swarovski Emerging Design Talent winner. Wang has developed a business acumen that could rival several leading figures in the business today. Each season, Wang ups the ante and continues to take his brand to the next level. Fresh off his diffusion collection with Gap and the introduction of his shoe line, Wang has expanded the brand to produce a range of leather goods including bags, shoes and clothing.
The Fash Pack favourite Lara Stone was chosen to front the August issue of W magazine. I can't remember the last time a model rather than a celebrity covered the magazine so does this signal Stone's 'IT' girl status and ability to sell?
Do you agree with their choice, and who's your favourite model?
'Gossip Girl' star Blake Lively definitely brightened up the line of celebrities at this year's CFDA Awards at Alice Tully Hall in New York. With a golden tan to match her golden locks, plus an allover dose of hot pink Michael Kors, does the star have your vote?
Kate Moss is doing well right now. Okay, so maybe that's a bit of an understatement. As well as securing the YSL fragrance ad campaign last month, she has also launched her line in Topshop's new American flagship store in New York.
It doesn't stop there for Ms Moss. Today the supermodel scooped the award for Best New Women's Celebrity Fragrance beating the likes of Kylie Minogue at the fourth annual Cosmetic Executive Women Beauty Awards in London.
