Ad campaigns, catwalk shows, magazine covers, even commercial newsstand value: The Daily Beast has assessed all the aspects of a model’s “visibility and success” to determine supermodel superiority and has ranked them as a top-10 list.
“We considered four tenets to illustrate a model’s visibility and success — multi-year contracts, advertising campaigns, runway appearances, and magazine covers. Those with retail licensing deals, including Kate Moss and Gisele Bündchen, got credit for those estimated annual earnings, as well. Annual income from contracts, primarily negotiated by large cosmetic companies and Victoria’s Secret, were weighted 40 percent because they are the most difficult to get, bear the largest salaries, and indicate a very high level of success.”

It's official. The 'supers' are back. This new campaign with Christy Turlington for YSL shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin is a case in point.
Despite the current economy, the resurgence of these women in leading ad campaigns proves that they still sell and are a winning formula. The women in question? Linda, Christy, Claudia and Naomi.
In recent seasons we've seen Claudia appear in campaigns for YSL and Chanel and is now the face of Alberta Ferretti's perfume. Linda continues to be an advertiser's dream, appearing in recent campaigns for Dsquared2 with Naomi Campbell, as well as the ads for Prada and L'Oreal.

The predictions and gossip about which girls will be fronting the big campaigns for autumn/winter 09 is in full swing.
Fashionologie reports that YSL and Clavin Klein will stick to their single model formulas for fall; whereas Frida Giannini is said to be keeping her use of multiple girls. The Gucci designer has allegedly cast nine models for the campaign.
