Flare Didn't Go Down The Obvious Route With Its Claire Danes Cover

I've never been the biggest Claire Danes fan. As a woman's woman, the idea of supporting someone that feels no qualms about having an affair with a married man with a pregnant wife doesn't sit well with me. I hold a grunge, I know, but feminism aside, her latest cover is a good one.

The actress was the woman of choice for Flare magazine's November issue and rather than going for the cliché nude pregnancy shot, the magazine went for a tight beauty shot instead it works. This is one of my favourite covers of her to date and the issue is only one of a string of great covers from the Canadian title. Brooklyn Decker nailed it in Peter Pilotto for June and Lindsey Wixson shone on their all-important September cover.

Claire Danes As You Have Never Seen Her Before In Harper's Bazaar Russia

Claire Danes has never be someone that I've been particularly taken by. Aside from that pink Calvin Klein dress that she wore to the Golden Globes last year, neither her red carpet outfits nor her magazine shoots have wowed me. Like Scarlett Johansson, she generally steers on the safe side and doesn't step out of her comfort zone.

Her recent Harper's Bazaar Russia cover story shot by Mark Abrahams is different. Rather than going down the usual safe route, Natalia Alaverdian did a brilliant job of picking interesting pieces resulting in it being one of my favourite editorials out at the moment. Hopefully this is the start of a new look for Danes.

President Barack Obama knows how to throw a good party and deliver a good red carpet and the White House Correspondents' Dinner, which took place over the weekend was no different. Along with the usual mix of politicians came fashion folk like Tory Burch and Rachel Zoe, models like Kate Upton and Irina Shayk and major actresses like Kerry Washington and Claire Danes. As you know, Kim Kardashian never misses a photo-op was made an appearance with mother Kris Jenner making Obama joke, 'Why is she famous anyway?' during his speech.

Rate or Slate: Claire Danes Wore Narcisco Rodriguez

Claire Danes' red carpet choices has always been a bit of hit and miss for me. There's nothing particularly wrong with her style but her plain Jane aesthetic has never appealed to me and the same is true for this look.

To attend the premiere of 'Hysteria' during the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival yesterday the actress wore this block coloured Narcisco Rodriguez dress. It definitely works on her but I can't help but wish that she changed it up with the designers that she wears and go for something less classic and obvious or even add some accessories to add something different.

What They Wore: 12th Annual AFI Awards

Awards season is officially in full swing and last night Beverley Hills played host the 12th Annual AFI Awards. Compared to what we've seen so far this week, red carpet looks at the event was disappointing but naturally, Rooney Mara was produced the best outfit of the night in pre-fall Lanvin.

The Red Carpet Looks At The SAG Awards Were A Big Disappointment

After a promising start to the awards season with the Golden Globes, the SAG awards were disappointing in the wardrobe department. The majority of the looks failed to excite at all and January Jones, Lea Michele, Tina Fey and Winona Ryder were the best of a bad bunch.

The Awards season has officially begun. Last night the Beverly Hills Hilton played host to the 2011 Golden Globe Awards. 'The Social Network' was a bigger winner on the night receiving the award for Best Motion Picture Drama, Best Director for David Fincher, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score. Colin Firth and Natalie Portman won the big awards of the night for best actress and actor respectively in a motion picture drama.
