Long Hemlines, Checks And Tartan At Corrie Nielsen

Aside from a handful of young designers, London has sadly become extremely commercial over the years. The days were the capital was a hub of innovation seems to be a thing of the past, but that's exactly what makes designers like Corrie Nielsen so special. Her designs aren't the most wearable pieces, nor will they make buyers go crazy in these trying financial times but her unapologetic penchant for the avant garde and all things drama is commendable.

As always, the show stoppers were there and really worked on a tartan print over the knee dresses with a black tulle overlay and on the Victoriana floor length navy coat that she's shown a few times in the past. But interestingly Nielsen also introduced some more wearable pieces too for fall. The same print came on pencil skirts teamed with simple blouses, and shirts in black and white cheque. While this wasn't my favourite collection from the designer, she definitely remains one to keep an eye on.
