André Leon Talley is by far one of our favourite editors. I mean, what's not to love. He plays tennis in Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren and has the best selection of velvet shoes that we've seen. If you still need convincing, the ever frank talking editor-at-large gave Time Out New York an insight into his world in a recent interview.
On his style: ‘You cannot live your life in the elitist world of fashion and not step out or you’re disconnected. You have to realise that fashion is not the endgame. I started wearing Uggs two years ago. It’s a cosy shoe. Also, they’re only $98.' In fact, at home, he wears 'Juicy Couture shorts, a Ralph Lauren polo shirt and Uggs.' But don't expect him to wear Crocs. 'I draw the line at Crocs.’
On the Vogue offices: ‘The Vogue offices are full of what I call very angular women wearing stilettos, and maybe that’s just the consciousness — that people think that they need this look when they work at Vogue. But Grace Coddington does not fit that mould and she’s elegant. Look at Michelle Obama, she’s the most fashionable woman in America. But she’s not a fashion plate.’
On his love of Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia: ‘I only watch MSNBC for the news. And reruns of The Golden Girls. It’s my favourite show. They have a sense of being at home, always wearing different robes and nightgowns. For me it’s one of the greatest shows ever. Helmut Lang loves The Golden Girls too. He told me he used to rush home to watch it. It’s very uplifting and fresh, it just takes you away from the fashionable world.’

Ever feel like you're watching 'The Green Mile' when you read about Crocs? Now we learn that the company known for its hole-y clogs could be gone as early as September. Or to put it less delicately, as investment-fund manager Damon Vickers did: "The company's toast. They're zombie-ish. They're dead and they don't know it."
Well now, the story of Crocs has switched to 'Shaun of the Dead'.
Last year, the company lost more than $185 million. Even afer 2,000 job cuts, Crocs still has millions in debt and a September deadline for paying up. After selling more than 100 million pairs of shoes in seven years, this really could be the last leg.

An equally valid question — how did America develop a passion for anti-fungal clown clogs so quickly? — is easier to answer. Every once in a while, we go nuts for colorful, plasticky, collectibly, disposable things. Remember Hula Hoops? Swatches? Cabbage Patch Kids? This time around, it was Crocs’ turn.
The Smart Set, explaining that Crocs really might go bust if the company can't raise $22.4 million this week, remembers the frenzy the holed footwear caused circa 2006
There is a god, and said god hates hideous footwear as much as you and me. In the latest financial report for Crocs, the company's auditor expresses 'substantial doubt' about the business' ability to stay up and running in the current market. (Cue angel choir.) Perhaps no more plastic cheese graters on the feet?
