Lindsey Wixson is fast-becomining the Tavi Gevinson of the modelling world. Wixson has been an aspiring model since age 12 and started out in her hometown of Wichita. Wixson had a shaky start, though. Her parents thought she was simply going through a phase, and when she was met with a lukewarm reception from agencies and casting directors alike on arrival in the Big Apple, Wixson remained undeterred. Instead, the savvy little lady used her initiaive and posted a video of herself on Models.com, which caught the eye of none other than Steven Meisel - and the rest, as they say, is history.
At 15, Lindsey - with her trademark bee-stung lips - is definitely living the dream, especially judging by the number of Spring 2010 shows she clocked up during last season's fashion weeks. Not only did she walk for the likes of Brian Reyes and Cynthian Steffe, she opened Prada's show in Milan and closed the Miu Miu show in Paris. And if all those achievements weren't enough, she has recently been chosen to front Miu Miu's Spring 2010 ad campaign, following in the footsteps of the likes of Kirsten Dunst, Katie Holmes and Vanessa Paradis.
Looks like things are really going to happen for Miss Wixson this year and that she'll have the last laugh. For someone so young, Wixson knows her mind and is not afraid to speak up if she's not happy. On a recent shoot with Craig McDean for W magazine, Wixson boldly requested a bra to wear under a see-through top to cover her modesty. "I am 15 and even though I freaked a little, I know for a fact that my mom would freak ten times as much," she said. "I just couldn't be flashing everyone out there." We are seriously loving Lindsey and can only imagine what this sassy little lady will have achieved by the time she is 17. Looks like Karlie Kloss might need to watch her back.
