'Project Runway' alum Daniel Vosovic had a strong first solo season at New York Fashion Week two months ago, and now he's looking to expand his trade into red-carpet dressing. "I'm a little obsessed with Zoe Saldana, but that's too easy," he told The Cut. "You could throw combat boots and a paper bag [on her], and I guarantee she'd rock the shit out of it...But I did approach Gaby Sidibe's stylist, and we are going to hopefully be working in the future on something."
Vosovic says he's ready for a non-traditional fashion icon. "To me, that would be a standout and accomplishment, to take something that's not exactly a sample size and make it not just work, but make it a fashion moment," he said. "Because I think red-carpet dressing is so mundance and now having had my own collection, I'm competing with corporations, and it sucks. And it's like, 'No, I want you because I like you and respect your work to wear my clothes, not because you gave me $10,000 to do so.'"
Recently we announced that the new series of Project Runway is set to hit your TV screens on Aug. 20, but it looks like Lifetime want to make the most of the show.
According to sources, the show is set to bring back old contestants for an all-star edition to take place one or two weeks before the latest season begins. The cast reportedly will include Chris March, Jeffrey Sebelia, Michael Knight, Daniel Vosovic, Santino Rice, Kenley Collins, Sweet P, Korto Momolu, and possibly more.
Aww, fond reality-TV memories: Daniel V (aka Daniel Vosovic, he of the flower-and-stem outfit in Season 2 Project Runway) is set to debut a namesake clothing line in February 2010. With price points similar to Alexander Wang and Phillip Lim (no four-digits), and touches of "more hip, downtown. Jil Sander, Narciso Rodriguez", we're sure he'll have a built-in fanbase. After all, he's already made it work with his own book and a handful of other design projects.
