You can pretty much work out your fashion standing by using Chanel invites as a benchmark. While the ready-to-wear shows may have a huge celebrity presence, couture is different. The guest list is a lot tighter so naturally, invites are like gold dust and only available for a select few.
At the brand's show earlier on today, the celebrity count really was limited to some of their favourites. As you would expect, Diane Kruger was there and on the arm of long-term beau Joshua Jackson along with other favourites like Lou Doillon, Clémence Poésy and Sofia Coppola.
Along with the Met Gala, the annual amfAR event during the Cannes Film Festival is one of the biggest events on the calendar. Unlike some of the big award ceremonies that can often be a bit hit and miss, amfAR always attracts a good red carpet and last night, with the exception of Kate Upton, was no exception.
Diane Kruger continued her reign as one of the best dressed women at this year's event, sporting a dress from the Chanel Resort 2013 collection that was unveilved recently. Karolina Kurkova continued her love of all things gold in a beautiful Roberto Cavalli sheer sequin dress with a matching jacket but you'll pleased to know that it came sans gold blingy hat.
Yesterday Calvin Klein Collection took over Cannes yesterday to celebrate women in film with the Independent Filmmaker Project. The event, which took place in a private villa in Cannes, celebrated actresses ranging from Shailene Woodley to Jessica Chastain and guests included loyal fans of the brand like Diane Kruger and Naomi Watts.
The event was also special because came alongside the announcement that Lara Stone will continue to serve as the face of all their global advertising campaigns including their Euphoria ad, which is set to drop worldwide in October.
As far as the Cannes Film Festival goes, Diane Kruger is always someone I look forward to see. Her red carpet looks are always spot on and unlike many others, her day time looks work just as well and that's clear in this look.
To attend the photocall of the jury of this year's event, she wore this burgundy lace up dress from the Fall 2012 Versus collection and finished the look off with her signature waved hair and Jimmy Choo's 'Katima' heels.
This morning was the first day of the couture shows and as always, Diane Kruger was in attendance. The actress turned up to the Versace Atelier presentation today wearing this dress from the brand's recent pre-fall collection.
Last year Harrods was given a Chanel make-over as the brand created an exclusive exhibtion showcasing their key pieces and last week they went even further by playing host to an eight-day excursion to Las Vegas where they held an invite-only installation.
In true Chanel form, the event was a big one. According to WWD the brand chartered private planes coming from across America to transport editors, celebrities and socialities to the weekend's festivities and secured Alexa Chung and Nick Cohen to DJ at the party. Guests on the night include Jessica Alba, Rachel Zoe, China Chow and brand favourites like Poppy Delevigne, Jen Brill and Diane Kruger.
This week has been a busy one in Hollywood. Earlier on this week we had the People's Choice Awards and last night was the turn of the Critics Choice Awards.
Outfits on the night that realy stood out came from Charlize Theron in Azzedine Alaia, Michelle Williams in Chanel, Kristen Dunst in Christian Dior, Jessica Chastian in Balenciaga and Shailene Woodley in Calvin Klein. I was really excited to see what Elizabeth Olsen would wear over the next week but her yellow Emilio Pucci dress that she wore to last night's event hasn't got me excited about what is yet to come.
Diane Kruger was in Paris last night to celebrate the premiere of her new film, 'Special Forces'. Unsurprisingly, the actress chose this Chanel jacket as the key piece of her look combined with Helmut Lang leather trousers and heels by Alexander McQueen.
