Screen Style: Kim Novak In 'Vertigo'

Kim Novak stars as Madeleine Elster in Alfred Hitchcock's psychological thriller 'Vertigo', made in 1958. Her looks throughout the film served as the basis of Sharon Stone's wardrobe in 'Basic Instinct'.

Famed costume designer Edith Head was responsible for Novak's onscreen look. She intentionally made the starlet look "eerie", particularly with the iconic grey suit worn in the film, which she said a true blonde would never wear.

Screen Style: Audrey Hepburn in 'Funny Face'

Fashion-film trivia: Co-star Fred Astaire bases his character on Richard Avedon - who shot several photos for the opening sequence.

Screen Style: Grace Kelly in 'To Catch a Thief'

Costume designer Edith Head received an Oscar nomination for her work with Grace Kelly in the 1955 Hitchcock film 'To Catch a Thief'. Head introduced Kelly to Hermes, and after that, the house named the iconic Kelly bag after her.

Set in the French Riviera, the film stars Kelly as Francie Stevens, an adventurous heiress who falls in love with a former cat burgler (Cary Grant) trying to prove his innocence after recent heists. We say: We'd like to steal those clothes.
