H&M has been on a roll recently, especially with the launch of their red carpet worthy pieces and last year Topshop forayed into dressing celebrities for the red carpet too. Ginnifer Goodwin and Jessica Szohr have sported the brand's red carpet looks in the past and on Monday both Dree Heningway and Jamie King wore Topshop to the Met Gala.
‘We feel incredibly honoured to have had the opportunity to dress these two amazing girls with such differing style,’ Emma Farrow, Topshop's Head of Design, told ELLE UK. ‘The antique gold sequin and distressed mesh shift dress came straight off the catwalk and was simply lengthened to Dree's requirements—it was important to retain a simple modern feel.’ For Jamie the approach was different. 'We wanted to keep with her ‘30s siren glamour so worked along more traditional vintage lines with bold silk satin devore in a beautiful rich crimson that came from our original AW palette.’
The Met Gala is known for delivering strong red carpet looks and Monday night's event was no different. It wasn't only about the clothes though because the beauty looks were equally as strong.
While there were a handful of questionable looks (sorry, Rachel Zoe and Christina Ricci), the majority were flawless. With both hair and make-up it was all about contrasts. Hair looks were either really severe and straight and generally tied back or came in Veronica Lake style waves and make-up was either really natural or dark and vampy.
Have a look through the gallery for my favourite looks.
President Barack Obama knows how to throw a good party and deliver a good red carpet and the White House Correspondents' Dinner, which took place over the weekend was no different. Along with the usual mix of politicians came fashion folk like Tory Burch and Rachel Zoe, models like Kate Upton and Irina Shayk and major actresses like Kerry Washington and Claire Danes. As you know, Kim Kardashian never misses a photo-op was made an appearance with mother Kris Jenner making Obama joke, 'Why is she famous anyway?' during his speech.
Amy Adams (in emerald-green Carolina Herrera) and Ginnifer Goodwin (in cobalt-blue Vionnet) each chose asymmetrical, knee-length gowns for tonight's Golden Globes red carpet.
We're taking you backstage and onstage for a recap of last night's People's Choice Awards, held in Los Angeles. The night saw Mariah Carey, Carrie Underwood and Sandra Bullock win big, but who takes your vote for best-dressed of the night?
