Balenciaga Bans Carine Roitfeld From Their AW10 Show

Ever considered the difficulty fashion journalists face when presented with a collection they don't entirely like? On one hand, it comes as part of the job description to acurately report on the latest fashion news, and yet there is also the necessity to keep designers and fashion houses on side, as keeping a good working relationship is vital in an industry where magazines rely on labels for shoots and articles.

So when a piece of press appears that a label doesn't necessarily like, they can threaten to pull advertising, and in extreme cases even ban editors from attending their shows at Fashion Week. Nearly two years ago, The Times' Cathy Horyn wrote openly about being banned from the Giorgio Armani show after she had written about his couture show, and it didn't go down well. Her outspoken style of writing has also seen her banned from Dolce & Gabbana, Helmut Lang and Carolina Herrera. The latest designer/editor dispute however is still fairly shocking, as Balenciaga banned Carine Roitfeld from attending their AW10 show this Paris Fashion Week.

Lady Gaga is going high-fashion for the European leg of her Monster Ball tour, according to WWD. Both Armani and Prada will be outfitting the singer, and needless to say, the fashion houses have taken every opportunity to experiment.

Giorgio Armani, who previously designed Gaga's costumes for the Grammys, has done four looks, including an iridescent mini-dress, two sparkly bodysuits and a black patent trench. To complete the look, Armani added custom shades and shoes. Not to be outdone, Prada designed an camel-coloured, 18th-century-style hoop dress made of a plastic-jersey blend, WWD reports. Ooh la la, Gaga.

The Fashion Industry Continues To Mourn For McQueen

Although New York Fashion Week is now in full swing, a dark cloud continues to hang over the air at Bryant Park after yesterday's announcement of the untimely death of Alexander McQueen.

The designer's stores in both London and New York have had their windows covered, and the ground has quickly been adorned with flowers and tributes from fans and passers-by. According to Fashionologie, Barneys reportedly sold more than 500 McQueen scarves since the sad announcement was made, and many press and buyers will reportedly cut their New York trip down to rush to London in light of the news.

Over the course of the day, many shows have started with a one-minute silence of rememberance, and Kate Moss has reportedly cancelled the Longchamp party she was set to host to launch her new collaboration with the brand.

As the fashion world continues to mourn for McQueen, industry figures continue to leave tribute messages expressing their grief.

Donatella Versace: "Alexander McQueen...The fashion world has not only lost an icon but we have also lost a very special friend"

Philip Treacy: "In a world where every man and his dog is a designer, Alexander McQueen was the real deal. His talent was supersonic."

Will A Last Minute Change To The Couture Schedule Mark The Beginning Of A Fashion Feud?

Time is running out before the streets of Paris begin to heave with celebrities and VIP fashionistas attending the couture shows. At such a time, one would expect that designers would frantically be adding finishing touches to their collection - that is unless you're Giorgio Armani. The silver-haired couturier is instead preoccupying himself with an "unexpected and unjustifiable" last-minute timing change by Dior that resulted in his slot being pushed back by 90 minutes.

Displeased at the fact that his Prive presentation, due to take place next Monday, will now go on at 9.00pm not 7.30pm as previously arranged, Mr Armani decided to air his feelings through a note, which is currently doing the rounds. In it, he expresses his views with regard to Dior's eleventh-hour reshuffle, which he believes is "indicative of a lack of respect for other people's time and labor." Stern words, which still await a response from the house of Dior. But picturing a throw-down between John Galliano and Armani is enough to keep us entertained while we await some more news.

George Clooney is definitely one lucky man. Aside from his glittering acting/directing/procucing career and undoubtedly sizeable bank balance, his current arm-candy is our latest source of envy. Since going public with his new lady friend- Elisabetta Canalis- at the Venice Film Festival last year, the Italian beauty has managed to remain relatively absent from the glare of the public eye.

Things look like they're about to change however, as Canalis has just landed herself a new ad campaign in the form of Roberto Cavalli's lingerie range. On the topic of why he chose the actress/model and (occasional) TRL host, he explained that, "I was inspired by a real woman, with appeal, charisma and sensuality." Of course Elisabetta has all those qualities, and then some, but we suspect that her selection was to ensure stiff competition for Giorgio Armani whose recent signing, Megan Fox, has just wrapped up her shots for the label's new underwear campaign. Let battle commence...
