Quote Me: Elizabeth Olsen Loves A Good Freebie

I can’t justify shopping because I'm like, ‘I got something like that for free, why would I spend money on it?’

Katie Holmes' Presentation Will Not Conflict With Victoria Beckham's Show

Earlier on his month Katie Holmes confirmed that she is taking her line, Holmes & Yang, to New York fashion week. While the announcement did make it clear that the collection will be showed in a presentation format rather than a runway show, not much was said about the date but now we have more news.

Grazia originally reported that the actress would show on September 9, at the same time as Victoria Beckham but as the dramatic nature of the report suggests, it isn't true. British Vogue confirms that Holmes will actually show on September 12 between 9.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m at the Lincoln Centre, meaning that she'll go head-to-head with Michael Kors whose show is set to begin at 10am.

Considering all the attention surrounding Holmes and the news that her line is going down a treat in stores since her split with Tom Cruise, I'm sure that buyers and editors will make the effort to go to the presentation even if that does mean dashing there before Kors' show starts.

Grazia Announce Paula Reed's Replacement

Image via Another

Last month we were all surprised when Paula Reed announced her departure from Grazia after five years as their style director and today, the magazine confirmed that Susannah Frankel will replace her.

Frankel, who will head up the magazine's fashion team from October, is more than qualified for the role. Over the course of her career she's served contributed to Dazed & Confused, British, Chinese and Russian Vogue as well as W, Another and The Guardian before taking her current role as the fashion editor of The Independent, a role she's had for the past thirteen years.

Paula Reed Has Moved To Harvey Nichols From Grazia

When news broke that Amanda Brooks was relocating to England and leaving her role at Barneys, many thought that she would replace Averyl Oates who had only recently left her buying role at Harvey Nichols. In a surprise twist of events, its not Brooks getting the role. Instead Grazia's style director Paula Reed has joined the department store as their new fashion director.

Reed, who has held her role at the magazine since its launch in 2005, has confirmed that she will take up her new role on September and will report to Harvey Nichols chief executive, Joseph Wan. 'I am delighted that Paula is joining the senior management team here at Harvey Nichols, bringing with her a wealth of experience gained in a number of Fashion Director roles across key fashion titles including, The Sunday Times, Harpers & Queen, InStyle UK and Grazia as well as relationships she has formed in the fashion industry that go back over twenty years,' Wan said in a statement. 'Her broad experience in fashion complements what Harvey Nichols represents, from the most exclusive luxury brands to the more accessible levels of fashion.'

Tom Ford Talks About The Fast Pace Of Fashion And Being Affected By Bad Reviews

There's no denying that Tom Ford is one of the industry's most loved designers but even he is a victim of adverse criticism from the press. Last September, in particular, he came under attack by Le Figaro's Virginie Mouzat who wrote that his collection resembled 'an out-of-date Gucci collection from ten years ago,' only to summarise writing that 'overload is the key word of the show.' In a discussion last week with Grazia's style director Paula Reed at the Apple store in London, such criticisms were discussed along with the pressures designers are under today.

When asked whether bad reviews still hurt, he responded, 'Of course they do. Because often a bad review is right and those hurt in a different way because you know in your heart what you're ready is right,' he admitted. 'You're quite raw because they come out the day or two days after you've done [with the show] and haven't been able to cover from it. You're exhausted and you can't really see what you've created because you're too close to it.'

Quote Me: Christopher Kane On The Show Schedule Drama

It's right that there's a lot of pressure [to get the dates sorted], it has to be worked out. There's too much talent in London that people need to know about. There are higher powers that will — that have to sort it out, because people love to come to London, there's such great talent, not just talent but there's ascending talent ... it’s different here, it’s just so unique.

Grazia Criticised For Photoshop Blunder

Image via The Cut

Last week Grazia made the headlines but unfortunately, not for the right reasons. Readers of the magazine complained to the British Press Complaints after the magazine published a picture of a skinnier than usual Kate Middleton from her wedding day back in May.

The magazine have since released a statement arguing that although they did photoshop the image, their intention wasn't to alter Middelton's size. They allegedly attempted to crop Prince William out of the image which led to the unintentional alterations, and we believe them. The Duchess of Cambridge has been criticised across the board for her dramatic weight loss over the past year making it unlikely that the magazine would intentionally attempt to make her any thinner than she already is.

Is Graeme Black Gianfranco Ferré's New Creative Director?

It's no secret that times have been hard at Gianfranco Ferré. Back in January they announced that they will not have a catwalk show for their menswear collection and last year they were facing bankruptcy after a big investor decided to pull out but it looks like things are picking up.

Yesterday Grazia's Paula Reed tweeted that Graeme Black has been appointed as the brand's new creative director. The move would definitely be a good one. We haven't heard from Black in a while but loved his namesake line so are confident that he could inject something new to the brand, which is definitely needed after a series of collections that lacked energy.

Dasha Zhukova's New Magazine: Out This June?

Rumour has it, Dasha Zhukova has been working on a new magazine - quietly, of course, as no one can say for sure what the name will be, or even what it will cover. Fashion? Culture? The arts? It's up for speculation. However, Grazia Editor-at-Large Melanie Rickey tweeted yesterday: "Just heard first issue of Dasha Zhukova's magazine is published next month - a June edition. No idea of its name yet. Anyone know it?" Whatever Zhukova, the former editor of Pop, has up her sleeve, we're guessing it'll fly off the stands - if for no other reason than to let readers figure out what exactly it is.
