This week we reported that Alexander Wang collaborated with Abbey Lee Kershaw, Karl Templer and Craig McDean on a short film which was released on his website; but that wasn't the only thing that the designer launched yesterday. Two new campaigns, one featuring Hannah Holman and the other starring Zoe Kravitz - who accompanied Wang wearing his designs to this year's Met Gala- and Max Motta.
When Alexander Wang hired Dan Jackson to shoot his first-ever campaign with model Hannah Holman, the young designer had a lookbook for stores and press in mind. After considering his target market, however, Wang decided upon a more urban, innovative approach - guerrilla advertising - and so the sexy, youthful SS10 campaign from New York's coolest kid will be plastered over his home city.
“The energy was much more appropriate for something like guerrilla marketing than anything too proper or formal. Because T is really the core foundation of what Alexander Wang stands for, I thought it should be something that could be much more democratic,” Wang says of his poster campaign, which will launch this Monday across Manhattan. When asked if the campaign will spread to other cities, Wang replied: "If it becomes something people really respond to, but right now New York City is where it’s at. This is our home.”
