Gwyneth Paltrow is one of the celebrities that brands always flock to as far as their ad campaigns are concerned. It was no surprise, then, when Hugo Bossannounced back in May that they had tapped the actress to appear in the print and TV ads for their Boss Nuit Pour Femme fragrance and yesterday the images and TV commercial were finally revealed.
Sadly the big reveal hit a dull note. There's no doubting that Paltrow looks beautiful in the ads but nothing about it feels memorable. Aside from the fact that it looks like they have been on the overzealous side with the retouching, the shot doesn't live up to expectation. On the other hand, the brand's fragrance campaign with Sienna Miller wasn't particularly a stand-out either so maybe the expectation was simply set to high on the basis of Gwyneth's past campaigns.
Gwyneth Paltrow is one actress that brands flock to in order to have her front their respective ads. In the past she's fronted campaigns for everyone from Coach to Tod's and now she has another campaign under her belt.
Today Hugo Boss confirmed that the actress will star in the advertising campaign for their Boss Nuit Pour Femme fragrance. 'We are delighted to welcome Gwyneth Paltrow to the Hugo Boss family as the face of our new signature scent,' Gerd Von Podewils, Hugo Boss Fragrances global marketing director, said in a statement. 'She is the perfect complement to Boss Fragrances.'
The campaign has already been shot and while it's not released yet, the behind-the-scenes image shows Paltrow looking natural with loose waves and sporting a classic asymmetric LBD, which the brand said was the starting point for the scent. 'To me, the Boss woman is driven, ambitious and goes after what she wants but she balances being strong and very feminine at the same time - characteristics that I strive towards in my own life,' Paltrow said at the launch this morning at London's Sanderson Hotel.
The last year has tragically seen a slew of models found dead including Daul Kim and Ambrose Olsen and 22 year-old model, Tom Nicon is the latest added to the list. The French model was found dead in his apartment in Milan a day before fashion week began. According to his friend, Nicon had allegedly fallen from his apartment window. However, whether this was an accident or a suicide attempt is not clear. "He did the Versace fitting this morning," the unnamed friend said. "After that he was supposed to go to his agency but he never arrived. I don't know if it was suicide or if he fell."
Nicon has walked for brands ranging from Burberry and Louis Vuitton to Hugo Boss and Versace and will be greatly missed. An anonymous model told Isaac Likes - a blog based in Milan, "People think we are young and beautiful and rich and happy. But we're not. We go to castings and the directors take one look at us and then we're dismissed. You spend your whole life wondering what's wrong with you. Why didn't I get that job? You're competing with your friends, you're away from your family. The pressure is huge. It's not the fairytale life people would expect."
Born in Naples, Mario Sorrenti moved to New York at the age of ten. At the age of twenty-one he began to gain recognition for his work. This then led to him catching the attention of several leading creative directors which eventually resulted in Calvin Klein commissioning him to work on their advertising campaign. Aswell as photographing many ad campaigns, most recently Kenzo, Hugo Boss and Jill Stuart, Sorrenti has also directed commercials for Calvin Klein. Famous for his provocative images for magazines such as Vogue, W and Harper's Bazaar, this month he shot Iselin Steiro for the calender supplement in Vogue Paris. (top left)
Emannuelle Chriqui dressed up her denim skirt with a blazer and strapy sandals; whereas Michelle Monaghan looked more event appropriate in this navy blue dress at the Cinema Society and Hugo Boss screening of 'Inglourious Basterds'.
Just when we thought the 'Inglorious Basterds' promotional tour was over, Diane Kruger turned up this perfect sequin premiere look for the screening of the movie.
This outift gets my vote but what do you think of her look?
