The Met Ball is in a matter of weeks so you know what that means - all of the speculation and reports officially begin now. The event has always been one of my favourites. The red carpet looks always exceed anything we've seen at any of the other big red carpet events but more than anything, it's the designer-celebrity partnership that gets me excited.
At this stage each year we all begin to question which star will team up with which designer and the first confirmations are in. Joseph Altuzarra is dressing Lana Del Rey and Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have confirmed that they will dress and attend the event with actress Isabel Lucas. Del Rey isn't an obvious paring for Altuzarra but I'm interested to see what he creates for her and Lucas will undoubtedly be a great clothes horse for Proenza.
Isabel Lucas has come a long way since her days as Tasha Andrews in Home & Away. Over the last few years her bohemian style has made her a constant fixture on style blogs and Karl Lagerfeld is a fan - not bad, eh, for someone who was never really interested in fashion?
Not content with starring as UK Tatler's November cover star, the Australian actress also appears on the cover of the latest issue of ASOS magazine. “I never really paid much attention to fashion growing up. It’s really just colors or the way that things are woven," she told the magazine. "It’s individual vintage pieces I love, but then when Chanel sends you a beautiful skirt, that’s special too.”
Last night's Golden Globes led into a few after-parties - including the official fete at the Beverly Hilton Hotel's Oasis Courtyard, plus an HBO event at the hotel's Circa 55 restaurant - and that gave us the chance to see partygoers who didn't make it to the red carpet. That includes Lindsay Lohan, who chose a sparkly hooded dress for the occasion (and also crashed a gathering hosted by the New York Times Style Magazine), and the likes of Ashley Olsen, Amanda Seyfried and Camilla Belle. Even actresses who did hit the awards ceremony, like Golden Globe-winner Chloe Sevigny, showed up to let loose. And if everyone could let loose while looking as good as Ms Sevigny in Christian Lacroix Haute Couture, then we should head to Beverly Hills parties seven days a week.
